The high will probably keep it off the more southern coasts. That will keep it over very warm water which could make it grow very large, very quickly.

The low you see near the top of the map could draw Irene right on in. I doubt if it will move out fast enough.

Whoever gets hit first by this storm will have some ferocious winds. However, anyone in its path will get some type of wind and a lot of rain. Hopefully it will move quickly. If it doesn't move quickly, some areas may get a shiteload of water dumped on them in a short time. There will be flooding, but how much remains to be seen.

This is not looking good at all for the northeast. Take precautions NOW. If you are going to leave, do it well in advance. The traffic will hold you up some in areas. In addition, by the time you realize you should have left, it will be too late.

Take Care. I am still not sure it won't wobble back to the west some and put me in the bullseye.

1. Its almost an almagam
of ideal conditions. Lets hope the storm heads inward inland fast, or else if it decides to skim the eastern seaboard that isn't good news for major metro north eastern cities.

2. Looks like Irene won't be weakening until after it rakes NC.

4. That's a good map. Thanks.
I was looking for the area where Irene was heading. It is going to be in very warm water for a while.

Edited on Thu Aug-25-11 11:17 AM by mod mom
this morning. s(see current weather map in OP) Very heavy rain, thunder & lightning. I wonder if it will get pushed back west or whether it might push Irene out to sea. Anyone know?

9. Hard to tell, but
all models now show Irene staying along the coast and hitting the the Outer Banks of NC.
