My whole family are in the direct predicted path of Irene.
Brother living on a 70' boat in the Chesapeake. Talk about being in the flood area. I'm worried he'll stay and tend the boat rather than heading for a shelter.
I have a brother and sister and a bunch of relatives living on LI.
Another son and I live in VT and another son lives on the coast of ME.
Also a daughter in Saratoga. If it goes inland then out to sea
we might all get the likens beat/blown out of us!

This must apply to millions of people as families tend to live up and down the east coast. No one has hurricane insurance...as most people don't. Lots of people are going to have uninsured damages and no money to pay for repairs or cleanup.

The weatherman predicted that this storm will probably leave millions of people with life changing afflictions and hardships.
I wish everyone the very best.

2. My brother is in the Navy at Norfolk. The entire 2nd Fleet is being moved out to sea.
I'm sure he's pretty busy right now.

8. They said the Navy was moving out to sea because it was
safer than being tied up getting tossed around -- I hope your brother heard that (but heads inland instead of out to sea!).

You and your family be safe!

9. stay safe, I am also near the coast in Ma
live on one of the biggest lakes in the state. We have huge trees all around the house that should of been taken down years ago. A $10,000 deductible on our ins.

We have been through storms before, this one has me very worried.
I wish you and your family well, hopefully this storm will make a quick exit to sea.

10. I, too, lived in Florida...
Have been through too many hurricanes...get to a shelter in the flood areas and if you shelter at home, get those supplies in. I now live in Kentucky and I can tell you, each June 1 for the last five years, I have loaded up on batteries...old habits are hard to break.

Best of luck to your family and everyone who is in the path of Irene.
