Pay no attention to that stupid Texan
I am standing by my prediction that Willard "Mitt" Romney will get the Republican nomination, Tim Pawlenty will be his running mate, and that they will lose.

1. Romney has no charisma, and won't get the support of the far-right activists.
Perry is the dangerous one - he's like Bush on PCP, and he has enough charisma that he could actually get elected.

2. I think you are right. Perry is too risky and
Mittens is a weird and out of touch rich person.

3. You're gonna have to narrow that down
Heh, heh.

Anyway, yes, Rick Perry is the presumptive Flavor of the Month for September. Michele Bachmann had an extraordinarily short shelf life, but that was not unexpected. The odds were good that Republicans would find her goods to be decidedly odd. Once Perry's record has been aired, including his past incarnation as a Democrat, he will become persona non grata for the presidential sweepstakes.

The Republican brand is getting so micro-marketed, it's hard to say who will pass muster anymore with the hard core and still be palatable in a general election. In 2008 John McCain was in, then out, then back in, as kind of the last survivor of a brutal war of attrition. Multiple Choice Mitt Romney (slogan: If you don't like my position on an issue, just wait a week) looks like he's chameleon enough to weasel his way through the primary and come out the other end.
