1. I hear you....
It has been around 115 for the high and right now it is 105 in Phoenix. I am looking forward to when we get back to the cool 90's. No rain here either. But as we like to joke, "at least it's a dry heat."

92 feels much better than the 100+ degree afternoons we've been having.

I agree, it's been so long since we've had cool weather I can't remember what it feels like ;(

Not sure what the current temp is...but it's still hot.

I'm adjusting. I don't like it - but I'm adjusting.

I'm also wilting.

Today was the hottest day of the summer at my fire lookout tower in the Oregon wilderness. It was 81-degrees. Going down to about 40 tonight at my 6500-foot location.

But I feel for you. I've been through some of the really bad Dallas and Houston summers.

On edit: Oops, it was just 75.8-degrees for an official high at the lookout today. I just checked the data-logger.

48. Yikes --- !!!
Are businesses able to continue work?

Is airconditioning working there 'cause presume that TX is unlivable without it?

What happens with cars there now -- here in NJ, seems to me that even the gas in tanks

is drying up from the heat -- not to mention various hoses and stuff.

How are you doing with vegetation there -- are they bringing in vegetables?

Hope you get some rain soon!!

I have lived in Texas all my life and it has never been this bad before. What if this is the start of a trend and it gets worse every year due to global warming? I'm almost starting to believe this 2012 end of the world stuff. How many posts do you need before they let you start a thread?

30. I have been thinking how bad it is and will it rain ever again. It is scary here. The lakes and
rivers are drying up. The wild life are suffering/dying. This is bad. Ten months of no rain and Texas is dying. And the experts are saying that this drought will continue through Oct of 2012. I can't imagine the amount of suffering. I know it is hot in Texas in the summer months. I have lived here for 18 summers and this is the worst. Without a doubt.

32. Well yeah it is Texas and yes it is hot here in the summer, however, it is unusually hot this year
and we are in a terrible drought with hardly any rain in ten months and this drought will probably continue through Oct of 2012. Our lakes and rivers are drying up, our wildlife are suffering. It isn't a good thing. We aren't complaining just for the sake of complain, trust me.

33. Here in Austin, we passed the local all-time record for days of 100+ temps on Wednesday.
The previous record was 69 days, from the summer of 1925. And we are probably going to blow this record completely out of the water (well, out of the dry riverbed anyway). as we stare down another week of forecasted record highs.

We just moved here from St. Louis two months ago. I never thought I'd miss the epic thunderstorms Missouri gets, the ones that leave tree branches littering the roads...but I really do. I heard somewhere that it would take 30 straight days of rain to make up the deficit we have accumulated so far with this drought!

You can buy a deep watering device or make one for yourself with a pvc pipe.

Garden centers have deep watering devices.

My trees are still ok because the water is deep in the ground.

50. Climate scientists predicted in 2009 that the heat & drought in the southwest would
eventually make the area "uninhabitable." I'm sure that's not what you want to hear right now! But it's likely that the area is starting to experience what the scientists predicted. We all have lots of shit to look forward to thanks to climate change -- you're not alone!

Heat and Drought May Make U.S. Southwest 'Uninhabitable'

A warming and drying climate across the southwestern United States could eventually make major cities in the region uninhabitable, according to some of the world’s pre-eminent climate scientists.

"With severe drought from California to Oklahoma, a broad swath of the Southwest is basically robbed of having a sustainable lifestyle," Christopher Field, of the Carnegie Institution for Science, told the U.S. Congress.

He went on to warn that major cities in the region, such as Sacramento, Calif., could soon experience heat waves for up to 100 days a year.

Other climate experts have warned over the past month that the effects of greenhouse gasses on the atmosphere in the coming decades are likely to be far stronger than those predicted by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in 2001.
