Christine O'Donnell dropped from lineup of speakers at tea party rally in Iowa

Former Delaware Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell has been dropped from a lineup of conservative speakers at an Iowa tea party rally Saturday that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will headline.

Tea Party of America had announced late Monday that O’Donnell would speak shortly before Palin at its “Restoring America” event in Indianola, a town 18 miles south of Des Moines. But by Tuesday morning, the group had uninvited O’Donnell, but for differing reason. Ken Crow, founder of Tea Party of America, said he overbooked the lineup of speakers. “It is all my fault. I’m taking the sword. Ms. O’Donnell did nothing wrong. I did,” Crow told The News Journal in a telephone interview. “It was my fault.” However, Tea Party of America’s other founder, Charlie Gruschow, told the Wall Street Journal that the group decided to drop O’Donnell from the lineup after receiving numerous “emails from a lot of tea party folks that were very disappointed that she would be speaking.” “We decided not to have her speak,” Gruschow told WSJ’s Washington Wire. “We felt it was in the best interest of the movement."

3. Its a "movement" all right ...
One that is circling the bowl.

Sarah's expiration date is approaching ... and the last thing she needs is a some what newer, fresher model sitting on the same shelf.

5. But doesn't Rick Perry have essentially the same ideas as O'Donnell?
O'Donnell is as crazy as the shit from the ass of a myotis lucifugus but I think she has virtually identical views to those of Rick Perry, about global warming and creationism, for example. It must be the witch thing. As long as Rick Perry doesn't admit he's a warlock, he's safe.

8. Valid point but Rick Perry is in a state where there are many crazies just like him
Hey I know there are plenty of progressives in Texas but unfortunately you're outnumbered by the lunatic fringe. Now Perry has validation since he's he's been governor of the state.

O'Donnell doesn't have any of that validation. Sure she's run for senate 3 times. But the first time she did a write-in campaign, 2nd time no one from the GOP wanted to run against Joe Biden so the slot defaulted to her and this past year was all screwed up by the Tea Party. Our primaries are closed so only the republicans picked their candidate and Mike Castle didn't have all the moderate democrats and Independent voters he needs to win races (which is the only reason why GOP Mike Castle can win in such a liberal state). So of the 55k voters that voted in the primary, 30k of them Voted O'Donnell. General election we have about 300k voters turn out.

Palin, Bachmann, Perry all have what O'Donnell doesn't have - they have actually won elections.

7. It's because Christine blamed them for not voting for her and why she lost last year.
She gave an interview last week and said the Tea Party people didn't support her.

Awwww, that's a shame.

:)

9. Or perhaps the concept that Democrats out number Republicans 2-1 in Delaware
Edited on Tue Aug-30-11 05:03 PM by LynneSin
Mike Castle is a moderate Republican whose success is attributed to the large number of independents and moderate democrats who vote for him every general election. O'Donnell got none of those votes. Only reason the election was as close (well 17 points, usually the GOP SEnate races are about 25-30points in favor of the Dems) is this was 2010 and without Obama on the ticket the voter turn out was lower than normal.

11. Admit it, you guys were spoiled by having Joe Biden as a Senator for so long.
She didn't stand a chance. I felt sorry for her until I saw the clips of her talking about being a witch and then I just fell out of my chair.

12. yeah but Tom Carper would win easily against her too
Honestly, it's very difficult for any GOP to win in our state unless they can come across as moderates. There's only one Republican that has a statewide position and that's because he's an oldtimer GOP who has been around forever (that's the state treasurer). Other than that these state races are all leaning heavily democrat.

13. BTW O'Donnell now claiming she didn't walk off of Piers Morgan show - I kid you NOT
http://www.9news.com/entertainment/216268/343/ODonnell-promoting-new-book-Trouble-Maker

DENVER - Tea Party member Christine O'Donnell says she didn't storm off CNN's Piers Morgan earlier in August when he pressed her on gay marriage.

O'Donnell says if you watch the clip, you see the sound technician taking her mic off her and her asking, "Are we done?" O'Donnell told 9NEWS Anchor Gregg Moss that Morgan went too far when he asked her about her own sex life.
