The military budget
Couple weeks ago I realized the military budget isn't ever going to be cut. Never. Congressman James Clyburn, who I really respect, was on TV one day and I was listening to what he was saying about cutting the budget but when cuts to the military came up he began listing all the military facilities located in his state and there was a lot of them. And he didn't want any of them closed either.

Right then and there it hit me what is going on. I am sure any time some politician starts getting a little loud about cutting the military budget someone calls up that politician and says how about we start closing the military facilities in your state? And all that politician can see is a few large cities in his state basically drying up and blowing away after the military moves out. I seen the end of that happening once when I moved to the east side of Indianapolis. Fort Benjamin Harrison closed right before I moved in. Hit that economy hard. Watched everything go down hill when we lived there. It was depressing.

And this is one issue that the persons party will make no difference. Dem, Repub, Independent. Don't matter. See what I am getting at here?

I am thinking we might as well devote our resources to some other issue because this is not ever going to change.

Wish someone could convince me I am wrong about this, but I don't think I am.

Don

2. I think you're right - I just wish MORE of that budget was
going to benefit our servicemen and women and take better care of veterans.

But that may be the most productive thing we can do - focus our attention elsewhere where we have a better chance of accomplishing our goals.

3. Wars and military budgets are, ironically, killing our nation.

4. We can't call it the Defense Budget or War Budget. We have to call it something like
The America-Killing Expenditures.

6. That doesn't explain....
The more than 700 bases overseas.... Bondsteel for example.

I don't believe we need to occupy Japan or Germany anymore.

I think any Congressasshole has to defend the military budget or be labeled "soft on terrorism" or "hippies" or some such.

Fuckin' hopeless.

7. I don't really mind the military having a large budget, but when
the Pentagon (mostly civilians) lose, what was it, 3 TRILLION DOLLARS, then I have a huge problem with it. What bothers me more than them "losing" it, as in haven't a clue where it went, is the fact that no one seems to give a shit and they just throw up their hands and say "oh, well". Yeah, now that bothers me a whole lot.
