4. That's going up on my UFT Bulletin Board tomorrow.
Assuming I can figure out a way to print it out.

Thanks, Lady.

6. The two bottom images are from the Triangle Shirtwaist fire

K&R!

Never thought it would happen again.

September 2, 1991 - Twenty-five workers were killed when a fire broke out at the nonunion Imperial Foods poultry processing plant in Hamlet, North Carolina. The plant’s fire exit doors were illegally locked and blocked, leaving the workers no escape. The 11-year-old plant had never once been inspected by federal or state safety and health officials. Eerily reminiscent of the Triangle Shirtwaist fire 80 years before, the Hamlet tragedy brought renewed calls for stronger enforcement of workplace safety laws.

9. Except for the last picture you really don't see the most seriously damaged victims.
Edited on Mon Sep-05-11 09:00 AM by fasttense
The children and adults who lost their fingers, toes, feet, hands, arms, legs and lives from factory machines and no safety codes. The injured were immediately fired and received no free medical care. During the height of the Industrial Revolution, there were so many people missing limbs that one journalist commented that when he walked around a working class section of a city it was like looking at a war zone. So many people had limbs missing it reminded the writer of casualties after a war.

Unions stopped this sort of abuse and RepubliCONS want us to return to those days.
