Cox Cable, internet and phone package is now putting the
identity of your callers on the top left side of your TV. This could cause a problem should you receive a call you do not want other family members to know about. What's next?

10. How about: Just make sure you don't cheat on your wife.
Edited on Thu Dec-16-10 10:12 AM by Kalyke
That's even more simple and doesn't emotionally abuse your spouse.

14. Or how about: Learn to recognize a joke.
Which is the simplest of all!

2. How many calls would you receive like that, and not on the secret cell phone?
Seems to me if you're hiding doings with others that even people you share TV with doesn't know about,, a prepaid cell phone with code words like "the rooster crowed at midnight, the cock is confused" or something would be more appropriate.

What if the number blocks out the nudity in the movie that you're watching (only for the nudity)?

6. Comcast does that as well ...
I've seen it at a friend's house. I believe they have that as an option; I would think Cox would have it as an option as well.

13. Back when caller ID started.
the phone company called and asked me if I wanted to sign up. I said no. She asked "didn't I want to know who was calling to see if I wanted to talk to them or not?"

"No, I prefer to be rude in person with anyone I don't like"

end of call.

11. This is actually a great feature for some people.
My elderly dad really appreciated being able to see who was calling while sitting in his recliner. If he didn't know who was calling, or didn't want to take the call, he didn't bother expending what little energy he had left by getting out of his chair to answer the phone.

12. Comcast was doing that for a while at my house, then it stopped.
I wish I could figure out how to make it do that again. I loved being able to screen my calls from my couch. If it was someone I didn't want to talk to, I didn't even have to get up!

15. I've had that for years!
Why should I worry who sees who's calling? If you keep secrets from your family, how good of a family member are you? Dayum!

16. AFAIK, Time Warner Cable, DirecTV and Dish Network have this capability.
Though TWC only does this if you have their phone service, for the satellite providers you have to plug your phone line into the satellite box.

It can be disabled.

Plus if you are receiving calls you don't want your family to know about they that other party is calling the wrong number (should have given the other party a different private number) or you shouldn't be hiding secrets from your family (some secrets, like a surprise vacation are good secrets).

18. Of all the things to NOT worry about. Also if you need a secret phone...
T-mobile cheap ass prepaid phone: $29
$100 prepaid card gets you $1000 minutes and it is good for a year: $100
Not having your secret lover's phone number flash on your TV while family is watching "it's a wonderful life": priceless.

I like it. We take the phone off the hook during certain shows. This way, we know when someone is calling us and who it is.

20. I didn't sign up for caller ID
cause I just don't use the house phone. It's only telemarketers calling anyway.

We just use it for the fax machine.

But you can opt out of the function on the cable box menu

I suppose Cox allows you to do the same thing
