You guys are going to get a kick out of this one. Keep in mind that I live right in the middle of bagger land. Not only do I live in Texas, but my county is extremely conservative, which includes my neighborhood. I'm signed up with my HOA to get email alerts for events pertinent to my neighborhood.
Here's the first email I got:
October 1st, 2011 is the first ever Chalk The Police Day (join the event on www.Facebook.com - remember to invite your friends).
The idea is simple. Find an area on public property, a police station would be most fitting, and hold a demonstration.
Bring children’s chalk and chalk sayings, websites, quotes or anything you’d want the police to know on the sidewalk (or public property).
Remember to bring your video camera and to contact CopBlock so they can put your event on the Chalk The Police page here at www.CopBlock.org.
Needless to say I was pretty shocked. I'm pretty sure all my HOA board members are baggers. Here's the 2nd email I got a few hours later...
Please ignore the email and the Event recently posted. I was given bad information. This event is generally held where there have been issues with 'over zealous' police. Our Police Department is a wonderful group of officers and staff.
If you agree, the only thing I would do is to support them any way you can.
Thank you,
XXXXX
Web Administrator
p.s., if you have an event that you feel should be posted, please email me at xxxxx.xxxxx@xxxxx.com I will review and have the Board agree to the posting.
My guess is that one of my neighbors sent the event to the HOA web administrator and she emailed it to everyone on the list without reading it. This means there MUST be at least one other non-bagger in my neighborhood. And here I thought I was the only pilgrim in an unholy land!
I wish I could see and hear all the emails and phone calls the HOA web administrator got.
