You too can easily be declared a terrorist. Really, it's not that far-fetched.

Not so many years back, the chimp administration lofted a trial balloon claiming that anyone who used illegal drugs was supporting "The Terrorists". I've heard timber corporation radio ads on the CA north coast claiming that environmental activists were terrorists. Our government is now under the control of predator corporations. It's not a far reach to expect that anyone they are uncomfortable with, could be declared to be terrorists.

We're on a slippery slope here with Obama embracing the Bush Doctrine. How about when we wind up with a real fascist asshole rethuglican president again? Who will be his (or her) targets for assassination?

Wake the fuck up! This is bullshit!

And BTW, there have been people in the US accused of terrorism. None, as far as I know, have been blown up by hellfire missiles launched from Predator drones.

40. actually it was discussed on this board
when it was reported that little boot's administration could define who is a terrorist. And quite a few people on the board were concerned, especially, by the liberal bashing going on by the MSM. Allowing hateful commentators like anthrax coulter to publicly spew things like shooting liberals.

11. That wasn't a 'trial balloon.' It was a marketing campaign.
In the same vein as 'Just Say No.' It was little more than a clumsy insertion of the 9/11 legacy into the same anti-drug PR campaign that's been around for a long time.

24. I'm old enough to remember when it did happen
An awful lot of people were downright gleeful about the Kent State shootings in 1970, when Ohio National Guardsmen met unarmed student demonstrators with live bullets, killing four, including a couple who weren't even demonstrating and were hit by stray shots.

There was a less publicized shooting at historically black Jackson State, where two students were killed, but since they were black, it didn't get as much publicity. But some people were happy about that, too.

An awful lot of Middle Americans thought the Kent State students had "gotten what they deserved." Being a student myself at the time, I found it chilling.

27. The fbi bombed Judy Bari.
And they were sued, and they lost the law suit. The FBI lost.

This was well before Bush, too.

It's not far fetched at all. You only need to stray out of line. Hell, I used to ride my bike on Palco land. The same place where you could find spikes in redwood trees. Fish and Game kicked me off, on a Sunday. Fish and Game acts as a cop for the big corporation that owns the trees.

People just don't see the problems because they're living their lives. In the city. In an office. Break away from the queue, and you just might see the ugliness our consumption is creating.

28. I don't think the FBI actually planted the bomb on Darryl and Judi.
They certainly did have them pegged as terrorists though, and treated them as criminals rather than victims after the bomb went off.

30. It may have been the FBI. But how they were treated is still part of this discussion tangentially.
Thanks for that reminder. I had forgotten.

Even if they hadn't, it was very convenient for them. Getting rid of the Earth First group was a goal. Sort of like our "terrorists" today.

The FBI are a bunch of corrupt thugs. No doubt about that. My gut feeling is that it was someone else though.

Darryl and Judi's treatment is absolutely a part of this discussion. They were labeled as terrorists by government agents, which is just absurd. I have known Darryl since before he got involved with Earth First! I knew Judi as well. Their methods were non-violent, but they pissed off the predator corporations, and that's all it takes to make you a terrorist in the eyes of the US Government.

32. We didn't invent all these civil rights protections b/c gov't never accuses the wrong people.

It's amazing that any thinking person's response to an "extra judicial killing" would be "Yeah, but that was a bad person."

Due process is ONLY for those we accuse of being bad people. Those suspected of nothing don't need them.

Apparently when people have enjoyed protections long enough, they begin to believe they're somehow intrinsic; automatic. They aren't. Put them down for an instant and power will be there, imposing itself.

Kidnapping, torture, murder. These are the things for which we condemn; always have condemned others. Do people imagine the "bad countries" didn't tell themselves they were acting in self defense? Only hurting those who "deserved it?"

Evil always believes it's good. Always says it's good. It's from the government, and it's here to help you.
