President Obama has a heavy load.
The Right hates him for reasons beyond just politics. If he fails to protect the nation's security, he will be raked across the coals for it. If the newly alleged leader of al-qaida was able to claim success for an attack on an American city at a later date because the CIA was ordered to stand down, then some CIA agent would be writing a book later about how the terrorist was in the crosshairs and Obama failed to act.

You people know this. That's why I can't find any wrong with his actions as CIC or his foreign policy. God knows he has taken heat for a terrible economy that he inherited.

So I'm not saying that we have to agree with and cheer his every movement, but let's try to understand and applaud his actions that have been crucial or even possibly crucial to keeping us as safe as possible. Think about it. They call him a Muslim, foreign born, illegitimate, and every insult they can create in their warped minds. So when they are forced to respect some action he's taken, such as the elimination of the top echelon of al-qaida including bin Laden, is it too much for us to support him ourselves? He may not always make us think he's our guy, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't emote supported excitement for him when he does well. President Obama has been terrific as CIC and his handling of foreign affairs. Nobody, especially the wingnut Right, has any ground to stand on here on this important part of the job. Consider this. Please. Consider this.

1. Good and thoughtful post. Obama obviously takes his duties in national security
very seriously--I am heartened that he is decisive in such matters. He doesn't fuck around.

3. Good luck to the GOP arguing we're weak on national security next election.
Remember that old meme.

12. Bush didn't even want Osama. They had stopped looking in like 2005.
And surprise surprise when our commandos found him he was still actively plotting to kill innocent Americans.

4. That is no excuse for showing false chops as CIC.
Those that support drones nead to empty the heavy load in their diapers.

Drones breed terrorists, kill innocents, and create ill-will to the USA.

There is nothing to applaud as I doubt POTUS Obama was in the operational loop or even knows any true specifics.

we need to get the fuck out of these pointless wars and bring the troops - and money - back home. i don't give two shits if he's got a heavy load good lord - he just has a US citizen assassinated - by an unmanned remote control aircraft!!! that should give any intelligent person pause imo. Obama is a terrible president and terrible leader IMO as well.

6. are you suggesting there were no other alternatives? Assassinate or ignore?
Defending the assassination of anyone, particularly U.S. citizens, is beyond my capabilities.

7. "keeping us as" my arse
god I hate that phrase. It's a phrase used by neocons to justify what BushCo did.

I'll not trade liberty for security. Never. Nor will I give Obama a pass to do so.
