http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D9Q28V8G0.htmKansas needs to invest hundreds of millions of dollars more in its beef, dairy and pork industries in order to give the state a larger share of U.S. animal agriculture production, Gov. Sam Brownback said.
"I just want to see us put that on steroids and grow it," Brownback said Wednesday during an economic development summit in Garden City.
http://bit.ly/qtKm00Brownback, a Republican, also said that reforming the state's regulatory and legal framework for the agriculture industry would attract new investment to Kansas. He said his administration would soon announce proposals for lowering the top rate of the state income tax, The Topeka Capital Journal reported (

The meeting also included an open microphone period, when people raised question about the state's capacity to issue driver's licenses to immigrant workers who remained in Kansas with their families many years after their visas had expired. Because they are illegal immigrants, they can't obtain a license to drive on the state's highways.

Ok, many points are made here.
1. We aren't talking about family farms here, we're talking about investing in mega corporate livestock productions. "Put that on steroids and grow it."
2. Lowering the top rate of state income tax - again for corporate "farming" and there might be some wealthy in Wichita and KC.
3. No plan to give drivers' licenses to immigrant workers = no vote.
