Atlanta Falcons owner sells Buckhead mansion for millions less than he'd hoped to get

By Christopher Seward
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Falcons owner Arthur Blank has sold a three-level Buckhead mansion for millions of dollars less than he once hoped to get for the property.

The home in the 3600 block of Tuxedo Road sold for about $3.9 million in a deal that closed Sept. 15, according to recent First Multiple Listing Service Inc. data. The home’s sales price was once listed at more than $10 million.

Efforts to reach the Home Depot co-founder and a spokesman for the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation were unsuccessful Friday.

News of the sale comes weeks after Blank, who also has a residence on West Paces Ferry Road in Buckhead, and his wife, Stephanie, announced they were separating after 16 years of marriage. ..........(more)

Kmart, Sears and Home Depot put holiday displays up early
Jaclyn Trop/ The Detroit News

Michigan retailers are pushing their holiday items earlier in the year to compete for shopper dollars and with e-commerce, which is expected this year to steal significant market share from bricks-and-mortar stores.

The International Council of Shopping Centers and the Chicago-based ShopperTrak service say retailers are poised for a second straight year of holiday sales increases — a projected rise this year of 3 percent.

The shopping center council has pegged sales to reach $250.2 billion, the highest total since 2007, when the country went into a recession.

Sears, Kmart and Home Depot were among the first wave of retailers to set up their holiday displays and merchandise during the last week of September.
