Are they on a part of the Brooklyn Bridge for cars or for pedestrians?

1. it looked like they were initially allowed to march across the bridge
into the car area - but keeping one lane clear for cars.

After allowing marchers from the Occupy Wall Street protests to claim the Brooklyn-bound car lanes of the Brooklyn Bridge and get partway across, the police cut the marchers off and plunged into the crowd and began making arrests around 4:15 p.m. Saturday.

At 4:35, around 500 people were caught on the bridge between orange nets. The police were letting some of them walk back to Manhattan. Others on the roadway clambered dangerously up the structure of the bridge to get to the wooden pedestrian walkway, which is about 15 feet above the road.

Not only is this bad for the people being arrested whom the police should have told not to walk on the road of the bridge in the first place, it's also bad for drivers trying to get to Brooklyn.

2. Judging from the size of that crowd
This may be what Ronnie Raygun had in mind when he authorized the building of the fema camps.
If they plan to arrest all these people where will they put them?

7. I don't think they intend to arrest them all
I saw some sitting deeper in the crowd who were sitting down quietly, minding their own business.

The ones being arrested are up near the front of the crowd, apparently taunting the cops and being disruptive.

Well, you know what? Taunting and disruption is NOT "peaceful protest". It's stupid, and it will get a person arrested.

10. From the video, the people in front were just sitting down.
Actually, the first 1/3 of the crowd sat, quietly, and a large group of 6-7 police walked up to each one in the front row, one at a time, led them away, went back and got another person in the front row, repeaet.
One of the people arrested was a 13 year old girl. The police are grabbing the people who in front row, then they will go onto the next row, etc.
The people are NOT disrupting, they were told by the police they could walk on the bridge, then the cops blocked both ends of the bridge, cutting of the group, refused to let them off the bridge, and started hauling then away.
I watched it, live.

First person account: "The police aided in splittling the parade. They hijacked a group of about 500 and led them onto the bridge roadway"
===

"Splittling" should be splitting, unless it's a pun on "kettling."
