Just discovered "Weather Nation" ...What a change from the commercial/fluff "Weather Channel"
Edited on Sat Oct-01-11 04:33 PM by KoKo
Since Comcast bought out Weather Channel it seems to be more and more filled with commercials, storm stories, fluff and infomercials. I was fussing around today and found this. For those who have wii, Apple TV, Boxee or ROKU this seems to be a new addition that is great to watch if you want weather 24/7 without all "that other stuff."

Maybe it's been around and I just found it...but for those of you who are off the cable and now using other sources this is a winner..

I'm just about ready to give up my cable now that I can get what I want to watch AND WEATHER!

There are really bad things about the Weather Channel - they tend to have a RW perspective on life, and intruduce that viewpoint whenever they can.

Additionally, like you say, a lot of commercials.

Plus they ignore most places outside of their Atlanta GA headquarters and a 500 mile radius. Here in California, we will hear more about some sprinkles in Atlanta than an entire avalanche shutting down Amtrak in the Sierras.

So much thanks for this information about Weather Nation!

13. Check out this site...and download from "NoWhere TV"
Edited on Sat Oct-01-11 06:46 PM by KoKo
"Weather Nation" is (scroll down) to Information TV...and scroll across to "Weather Nation" and click on and then when it downloads check to add to FAVORITES. This is what I did on ROKU...I assume it's something similar...but I don't know what system you use as to how to do it beyond ROKU.

5. I also like Weather Underground, although it has gotten much more
commercial as of late. It has photo galleries from around the globe and I've been making slide shows of some of their pictures for my computer at work. Co-workers are in awe of the gorgeous photography from average folks all over the world.

8. I love Weather Underground and Dr. Jeff Masters..but for "get up in the morning weather"
the ap on my ROKU just gives a page.

the "Weather Nation" is like the "old weather channel" and it gives "up-to-date" weather forcasts all over the US..with weather fronts and a "spherical map."

Weather Underground is great for hard core weather watchers and for those of us who live in Hurricane areas and who "do Believe" in Global Warming which WU website does great stuff with. Not so much day to day weather forcasts for us and our kids and the rest of us walking out our door in the morning wondering what to expect, though. I used to depend on W
"Weather Channel" (commercial) to do that for me...but not so much, any more with the fluff and commercialism.

11. It works but not and Overview" of the Whole Nation..individualized...
but what we need if there is something bad coming.

I just want to wake up in the a.m. to weather for the Nation...to look out ahead. This site does do it for me since "The Weather Channel" has gone "commercial."

16. Many folks can't "figure it out for themselves" though. For those this new site (if you have the
equipment) really does the job of regional..plus "weather patterns" that's like the "Old Weather Channel" used to do before it got taken over by glitz and commercialization.

Some of us need to get our weather without so much commercials and fluff. We need to function and not be involved in product hype and "trash talk" or stuff that goes on with the New Weather Channel..

We need hard core and not fluff.
