I'm afraid Ben Cochran is one of them. He's a nursing student who wrote a column in a newspaper because he was upset at the time it took for the emergency medical services at his local clinic to help him with his sneezy, phlegmy cold (which, I would have told him, is going to put a low priority on something they can't really treat anyway). He places the blame: the clinic offers women's reproductive services, and they were busy helping a "gaggle of preemie sluts [] get a free pass on harlotry"

3. This is actually pretty hilarious...

especially the part where he calls East Carolina University, the worst four-year university in the state of North Carolina, "an ivory tower of academic prowess." ECU is where you go when you get rejected by the gravedigger school at Fayetteville Tech.

And there IS a place in the medical profession for him. Someone has to wash bedpans.

5. I am an RN and I sent a copy of his unedited version

to both the Dean of the Nursing Program as well as a copy, with a very strongly worded letter, to the North Carolina Board of Nursing for their consideration when the time comes that they decide on granting his licensure.

This asshole may be able to get a 4.0 in a pharmacology class but he has nothing that it takes to be an RN, and hopefully his shitty, woman-hating attitude, compassionless thoughts will be vetted out in the first few months of his nursing career, will be noticed by senior nurses and nursing managers and he will be out on his ass quicker than he can say "lickety split".

He's an asshole. Nurses don't like assholes...,not if they're our patients and certainly not if they're our co-workers. Considering that something like over 90% of nurses are females, he will not be making quick friends in his industry if he thinks he can refer to OB-GYN issues as "cunt problems" and vaginas as "hatchet marks" or what the fuck ever.

I also hope that every HR department, nurse recruiter, and hiring manager in North and South Carolina remember his shitty little name so when his resume and application come sailing across their desk in a year or so, they'll remember what an asshole he is and be able to ask themselves whether this smiling fresh face of nursing is the person they want representing their hospital and caring for their patients. I've worked in a lot of hospitals, in a lot of departments, and I can't think of a SINGLE MANAGER who would hire an RN who had publically written such a screed against women, public clinics, birth control, etc.

I hope he's tossed on his ass. My profession doesn't need people like him in our ranks. My patients don't deserve to be treated with the disrespect he has already shown them.

Somehow, I don't think he's going to find many interested in him when they read that poisonous little rant!
