3. No. My father tried and failed miserably.
My brother converted from Judaism to Sufiism (Islam) and didn't tell our father until the rehearsel dinner for his wedding. Our father was outraged and acted out. As my brother was out of bounds for the evening, Dad turned his ire on me in a Freudian transference of hostility and because I thought it was my brother's life and it didn't bother me.

Dad asked me what would I think of him if he joined the American Nazi Party. I replied I didn't think they accepted Jews.

Ignoring my humor, Dad went on. What if he joined the Ku Klux Klan, how would that affect me? And I had to respond accordingly.

I said, "Dad, if you joined the Ku Klux Klan, there are three things you must remember: 1. You'll always be my father. 2. And I'll always be your daughter (heavy sigh . . . ) and 3. Don't expect me to help you burn a cross."

Dad left me alone for the rest of the rehearsel dinner which was what I was going for.

5. The question of the day is, does The Tea Party advocate fascist ethnic cleansing and mob violence?
Edited on Sat Oct-01-11 09:10 PM by Ian David
I would say, yes.

And there is no question of them being predominantly white and/or representing power and privilege. That's a conceded point.

6. Yep, hyperbolic analogies are as unhelpful as accusations for which there can be no acquittal
By the way, you are obviously a paid troll for Karl Rove. Now I'm off to find the sarcasm tag.
