Stamp down the emergent, anything that could or would take away their power. And that includes anything that would not need them, because that obsoletes them. They are quite predatory about this, for good reason. They are attempting to survive, but at the expense of everything else.

Camping en masse in a park for an extended period interferes with other people's use of the park.

Marching in the middle of the street interferes with other people getting to their destination.

7. In this case there is a matter of proportion. Park-goers and drivers are momentarily

inconvenienced, are not being harmed, it will pass. However, we are also spiraling straight down into an economic disaster of untold, world-wide proportions if we do nothing.

One item is very temporary inconvenience. The other is disaster for the six billion persons on earth, as well as the continued collapse of the environment. One of these is dire, is imperative.

Nothing.

They are free.

Now, why would the city want to know if a thousand or two thousand or ten thousand people were all going to be in one place, you ask?

-So the police can make sure that they don't block access to citizens of the city, going about their ordinary business.

-So the police can protect private property from a couple of thousand (or more) high spirited people...see, vandalism DOES happen on these occasions at times.

-So the police can put up barriers that keep a lane open to allow ambulance/police/fire truck access down roads that aren't packed end to end with people.

This is a law on the books in NYC. It didn't appear out of thin air. The citizens of NYC elected people to write this law and a mayor to sign it into law, and it has been on the books with no gripes from the citizens for quite some time.

Why are people who are NOT from NYC trying to suggest that the laws of their community aren't acceptable? They need to go to their own community and make or not make their own laws regarding assembly, if they don't like how NYC does it. They shouldn't be trying to quote FEDERAL law, and suggesting that "the man" is keeping them down, when "the man" is the citizens of NYC, and the law is one that has passed their scrutiny and meets with their approval.
