Rage Against The Machine
Know Your Enemy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4smim2MNvF8

Fight the war, fuck the norm
Now I got no patience
So sick of complacence
With the D the E the F the I the A the N the C the E
Mind of a revolutionary
So clear the lane
The finger to the land of the chains
What? The land of the free?
Whoever told you that is your enemy.

1. FDR - A Second Bill of Rights
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UENMaVtb5kE

On January 11, 1944, President Franklin D. Roosevelt proposed a Second Bill of Rights for the American people. It would have created a basic set of "Economic" rights for workers, farmers and small businesses, to protect them against hard times and unfair practices by large corporations, at home and abroad. Unfortunately, President Roosevelt passed away before he could take action to carry out the ideas contained in the proposed Second Bill of Rights.

2. Great old Jefferson Airplane song
http://www.lyricsfreak.com/j/jefferson+airplane/we+can+be+together_20070331.html

"We Can Be Together" Music and lyrics by Paul Kantner from the Airplane's "Volunteers" album

(snip)
"We can be together
Ah you and me
We should be together
We are all outlaws in the eyes of america"

(snip)
"Up against the wall
Up against the wall fred (motherfucker)
Tear down the walls
Tear down the walls"

Appropriate back then, even more so today.

5. When The Ship Comes In
"Oh the time will come up
When the winds will stop
And the breeze will cease to be a'breathin'
Like the stillness in the wind
Before the hurricane begins
The hour when the ship comes in

And the sea will split
And the ship will hit
And the shoreline sands will be a'shakin'
And the tide will sound
And the waves will pound
And the morning will be breakin'

Oh the fishes will laugh
As they swim out of the path
And the seagulls will be a'smilin'
And the rocks on the sand
Will proudly stand
The hour that the ship comes in

And the words that are used
For to get the ship confused
Will not be understood as they're spoken
For the chains of the sea
Will have busted in the night
And be buried at the bottom of the ocean

A song will lift,
As the mainsail shifts
And the boat drifts out to the shoreline
And the sun will respect
Every face on the deck
The hour that the ship comes in

And the sands will roll
Out a carpet of gold
For your weary toes to be a'touchin'
And the ship's wise men
Will remind you once again
That the whole wide world is watchin'

Oh the foe will rise
With the sleep still in their eyes
And they'll jerk from their beds and think they're dreamin'
And they'll pinch themselves and squeal
And they'll know that it's for real
The hour when the ship comes in

And they'll raise their hands
Sayin' "We'll meet all your demands"
And we'll shout from the bow "Your days are numbered"
And like the pharoah's triumph
They'll be drownded in the tide
Like Goliath they'll be conquered"

7. Robert Kennedy - Campaign Ad 1968
"In future decades people will have to wear gas-masks in NYC because the air quality is getting so bad."

Wrong symptom, but still understood the context of unregulated corporations.

14. Some Fugazi might be appropriate in this thread.
But the trouble would be picking which song.

If you aren't familiar, google song/lyrics for:

Cashout, Waiting Room, Ex-Spectator, Strangelight, No Surprise,
Do You Like Me, Smallpox Champion, Public Witness Program, Five Corporations, Oh (by Fugazi)

*pony power hoof*

Fugazi - Five Corporations

Fugazi - Oh (a protest song)

number one in acquisitions -- now there is no foreign soil
go global like a round thing -- go global like a hole -- to
every money matchmaker -- splicing green as fast as you can
let's break it down and start again

memo to the partners -- i'm changing all the locks!
i'm pissing on your modems -- i'm shredding all the stocks!

choose a color for your ceiling -- i'm waiting for the bottom to drop

in a room so brightly lit

i can't see in -- oh

you would never say you were out of time...!!

(your secret's out)

coming with the fiction all the time...!!

(your secret's out)

but there's a call coming on the other line...!!

(your secret's out)

(break)

la-la-lapse of luxury -- lapping waste
cruising towards a bruising crash -- thread held anvil's going to break

when the letter returns to the sender -- i can hardly wait

god this room's so brightly lit

i can't see shit! (no no no!)

you would never say you were out of time...!!

(your secret's out)

coming with the fiction all the time...!!

(your secret's out)

but there's a call coming on the other line...!!

(your secret's out)

(breakdown)

thank you sir may i have another? i will be your eager driver

your service provider your maitre'd! thank you sir may i have another please?

18. Fugazi - Cashout (from the band that almost became the next Nirvana)
Fugazi - Cashout

The morning of the first eviction
Carried out the wishes of the landlord and his son
The furniture's out -- on the sidewalk -- next to the family
That little piggy went to market -- so they're kicking out everyone!

"As discussed in the Fugazi book, the man who signed the Rolling Stones was sent out to sign Fugazi and make them the next big thing (after Nirvana). To make a longer story short, they offered the same deal to fugazi as they offered to the stones... $10,000,000.00 and their own record label... Ian Mackaye politely declined and brought their conversation back to their mutual love of Washington DC.

So indeed, they got as big as they wanted to."

17. Can't stand their noise. I heard the lead douche talking about corporations
as though they're evil entities.

Their label is Epic, owned by Sony Music Entertainment.

Does he rage against Sony?

20. Something in the Air, Thunderclap Newman
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VK_6TU1T7V8

Call out the instigators
Because there's something in the air
We've got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution's here, and you know it's right
And you know that it's right

We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together now

Lock up the streets and houses
Because there's something in the air
We've got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution's here, and you know it's right
And you know that it's right

We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together now

Hand out the arms and ammo
We're going to blast our way through here
We've got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution's here, and you know it's right
And you know that it's right

We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together
