Seminole County lawyer gets 15 years for burglary
Albert Ford II broke into the home, business of a client who had angered him.

SANFORD – The Seminole County attorney who burglarized the home and business of a client who had made him angry, today pleaded no contest to burglary, grand theft and criminal mischief.

Albert Ford II, 44, was sentenced to 15 years probation. Prosecutors agreed to a lighter-than-normal sentence, provided that Ford continues to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and continue to see a therapist.

Surveillance cameras at the home and business of an executive, who runs a luxury travel coach factory, captured pictures of Ford, armed with a gun, tearing up a yard light and door bell at the executive's house.

Ford also kicked over a bench and threw it into the pool, damaging the pool. Ford also stole a pool filter and flag, according to court paperwork.

1. Really stupid, misleading headline, but 15 years probation isn't a light sentence.

Of course, affording him a no jail time sentence is a mark of his privilege. I wonder how long it will be before he's reinstated to the bar.

A different set of cameras captured Ford at the executive's business, Featherlight Coaches, removing the hard drives from nine computers while it was closed

The owner, Kasee Singh, was not at home or at the factory when they were burglarized, but earlier in the day, Ford had sent two threatening text messages, according to court records.

Ford, who specializes in environmental and property law, had worked for the victim for two or three years, court records show, and Singh had earlier filed a complaint about Ford with the Florida Bar.

The thefts happened July 21, 2010. The Florida Supreme Court suspended Ford's law license the following month, and it's still suspended.


He should have done some jail time. I wonder what a drunken black guy might get for the same kind of burglary in FL, with or without a gun?
