#OccupyWallStreet: The NYPD have from nearly the beginning been waging war upon the protest.
There has been constant intimidation, verified unprovoked acts of outright violence, and several maneuvers depicting an outright war of attrition. Whittle it down, divide-and-conquer, etc.

I hope that the protesters are highly aware of this, that the cops are only going to get worse as their owners give harsher and harsher orders...adapt! More power to you! You ARE the power!

1. It will get worse.
The NYPD aren't the only forces to worry about, either. I have friends in the special forces who tell me to expect infiltrating instigators.

Be brave, and don't abandon the principles of nonviolent civil disobedience.

if infiltrators/instigators came. His response, said with a laugh, we expect them to come, heck there may already be some here!

I think these folks are very savvy!

2. I think there are limits to what they can do in the age of cell
phone photos and the internet. If there is a clear pattern of ongoing brutality it will get noticed and will bring sympathy to the protestors just as did in the civil rights movement. There's also the issue of prosecution and litigation -- this isn't happening in a back alley but in public view with lots of witnesses.

We should be doing the "divide and conquer" routine with the police, appealing for solidarity through their union, talking to them about how we're on the same side, working with other public unions (e.g., fire fighters), etc.

6. A DUer yesterday made the excellent point that the cops will attempt to turn some arrestees
into snitches in return for lesser charges.
