Gas smell prompts evacuation at Lowell High (San Francisco)
(10-03) 12:07 PDT SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco's Lowell High School was evacuated this morning after a "light" gas smell was reported at the campus, school district officials said.

All students were evacuated safely from the school at 1101 Eucalyptus Drive at about 11:15 a.m. as administrators called Pacific Gas and Electric Co.

District and PG&E officials were continuing to conduct a safety check of the area just before noon using "sophisticated leak-detection equipment," said PG&E spokesman Joe Molica.

"Safety is our top priority in a situation like this," he said.
