Obama says Americans aren't better off under his watch
By Michael A. Memoli
October 3, 2011, 1:00 p.m.
President Obama says he's "absolutely" the underdog in his bid for reelection, embracing the findings of a new survey that shows most Americans expect he'll be a one-term president.

Among the factors Obama said are weighing on his campaign is his own concession that the economy has not sufficiently recovered.

"I don't think better off than they were four years ago," Obama told ABC's George Stephanopoulos in an interview Monday. "What we've seen is that we've been able to make steady progress. ... But the unemployment rate is still way too high."

Obama offered the candid assessment, immediately seized upon by Republicans, to make a pitch for his jobs program.

1. That's why there's some wrist hair, but no Americans, under his watch.

Also, with today's rates of obesity, not many Americans would fit under his watch.

All they know is their Agenda, his failure. He never had them as an allies ,stop the introspection and hold their feet to the fire, with the Bridges that connect them to Our demise.

8. Question is does he really want a second term?If not why didn't he
Edited on Mon Oct-03-11 07:17 PM by INdemo
he just announce this earlier so the process could open up for a real Democrat(s) to enter..It may not be too late but maybe the best thing he could do is just pull an LBJ. Democrats could still come together and support a real Democrat..It just sounds like he doesnt care to have a second term..He is set for life so why have all the headaches?

I remember months ago when someone would mention a primary challenger there were those with oh no,no we cant do that.Kind of wish he would have had a challenger now?..To me those comments by Obama was probably an early concession speech.

9. Don't make me fucking laugh.
Any of your "real Democrats" would realize very fast that occupying that chair means you don't get to be a rigid ideologue any more.

12. Laugh all you would like but Obama doesn't seem to care if he wins
or not and what I am saying if we had a real Democrat running on our ticket it would bring real Democrats to the polls instead of sitting at home watching our Democracy crash thanks to Obama for being the best Republican the Democrats ever elected....

15. Great stuff. Obama needs to be the truth teller to the GOP lies and the whole frivolous
GOP corporate agenda. Which is frivolous if you think about it. The rich already have so much.

17. Honest Barack
The dogmas of the quiet past, are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew, and act anew.We must disenthrall our selves, and then we shall save our country. Fellow-citizens, we cannot escape history. We of this Congress and this administration, will be remembered in spite of ourselves. No personal significance, or insignificance, can spare one or another of us. The fiery trial through which we pass, will light us down, in honor or dishonor, to the latest generation.

Abraham Lincoln - Second State of the Union Address (1 December 1862)
