What are the roots of OWS? Is it Anonymous? What are the
roots of Anonymous? I don't know and would love some of the knowledgeable DUers to give me a short summary. I really don't want to Google it. Thanks.

2. Wikipedia has a terrific article, and I learned things I did not know.
As an educator, I must insist that you guide your own education with just a little prodding from me.

Wikipedia.

And, oddly, Canada has a significant role in the beginning of this movement!

3. This great article posted by devilgrrrl (probably spelling her name wrong)
Gives the most comprehensive history that I have seen:

How Anonymous, AmpedStatus, the NYC General Assembly, US Day of Rage, Adbusters and Thousands of Individual Actions Led to the Occupation of Liberty Park and the Birth of a Movement

8. Amy had a guest on today that talked about social movements based on
horizontality and how they took off about ten years ago, starting in Argentina.

But for "Occupy Wall Street", notice that the material at AmpedStatus dates from 2010 but Michael Moore was putting out images of occupying Wall Street in 2009, when he took a Brinks Truck and a bullhorn there to get our money back in "Capitalism: A Love Story".

Imo, *that* was the spark for this flame. The idea was right there in that film. :)
