Anonymous...The Movie
Most people are quite satisfied with the official legend of the uneducated man from Stratford fleeing his wife and children to become the most celebrated writer in history and who then returned to his provincial birthplace and become a dealer in dry goods. The facts, as meager as they are, do not support this. "William Shake-Speare," as he was known to his contemporaries, was the pen name of the highest ranking nobleman in Elizabeth's England. Gulielmus Shakspere, as he was baptized, was a frontman who was used to shield the identity of the author and to protect the privacy of those who were satirized in his works.

It is gratifying to the dedicated researchers that a motion picture interpretation of the career of Shake-Speare will hit the big screen on October 28. I just want people to realize that the title in no way seeks to capitalize on the notoriety of the #anonymous, but was conceived before the group was formed.

Enjoy the trailers and do some research into the life of Edward de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford, the real William Shakespeare, and the subject of the greatest cover-up in history.

And please, at least do a little research before you torch me with the flames of the torch-wielding mob.

3. Personally, in the Shakespeare sweepstakes I always liked
Christopher Marlowe. The reasoning is far too complex to go into here, but is well stated in Calvin Hoffman's Book, The Murder of the Man Who Was "Shakespeare". Or...maybe it was old William, even though that's no fun. :hi:

4. Marlowe and de Vere were cohorts
Similarities between his work and Shakespeare is to be expected, considering they were likely drinking buddies.

I suggest you peruse J Thomas Looney's "Shakespeare Identified" for the Oxfordian perspective. It is free to read on Google.

http://books.google.com/books?id=B004AAAAIAAJ&pg=PA121&lpg=PA121&dq=looney+devere&source=bl&ots=KwCzIpxJOR&sig=0UQO-G-JJ0t4yotqSTrfmq_BCN8&hl=en&ei=q2WLTuHzO-Xn0QGr--TnBA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=7&ved=0CEkQ6AEwBg#v=onepage&q&f=false

If that doesn't convince you, then nothing will. If it does there is a whole treasure trove of research which fills in the details that Looney missed.
