Occupy Wall Street is a tea party with brains

It’s been called the Woodstock of Wall Street, but that’s hardly an apt comparison. The gathering at Max Yasgur’s farm 42 years ago was built on a generation looking for peace, love, some drugs and acid rock. The kids today are looking for real, tangible change of the capitalist sort. They’re organized, lucid and motivated.

Actually, they have more in common with the tea-party movement than the hippie dream, with one key difference: They’re smart enough to recognize the nation’s problems aren’t simply about taxes and the deficit.

They want jobs. They want the generation in power to acknowledge them. They want political change. They want responsibility in a culture that abdicates it. They want a decent future of opportunity.

Author's not getting a lot of love from the greedy morans at MarketWatch in the comments section, though.

4. The M$M is still largely ignoring the entire movement. 3 teabaggers on a street corner gets 24/7.

5. The teaparty was a construct of the corporate political interests in the Republican Party.
It was their answer to the Obama's huge grassroots organizing success in 2008. The teaparty was given life by a financial media guy in Chicago and quickly exploited by Dick Armey and the myriad astro-turf organizations of the Right. Fox News legitimized the Tea Party with wall-to-wall coverage that far exceeded the actual turnout of people. The Tea Party wasn't created to protest the financial/corporate institutions corrupting our economic well being...it was simply a manipulated and co-opted organization to direct anger at elected Democrats and neutralize any chance for real reform to happen. The tea party were a collection of dimbulbs who were/are clueless about the root cause of misery.

The proof of this is how the MSM has covered the Tea Party vs. the OWS movement. They know which movement has the capability to revolutionize and change the current economic order. That's why they've deprived the OWS movement of media oxygen while saturating our exposure to the Tea Party - a movement dedicated to reducing government's ability to counteract the abuses of corporations in our lives.

6. They want their VOICE back.
We, The People are busy recovering what has been stolen from us: OUR VOICE-- also known as representative government. Our Voice is our only mechanism of participation in this democracy and the governance of this nation, and it never should have been stolen in the first place.

I would like to see laws enacted that prevent that from EVER happening again. It's one of the most valuable things we can give to our children and future generations.
