Looks like we are going to lose another one
Edited on Tue Oct-04-11 02:50 PM by doc03
in WV, reports say turnout is very light 12-15%. That doesn't usually work out very well for Democrats. This will be seen as a big loss since Maloney ran against Obama and Obama-care.

1. Not so fast
Apparently a lot more Democrats voted in early voting than Republicans did. As long as most of those Democrats voted for Tomblin, he still has a pretty good shot.

2. It would have helped if Earl Ray Tomblin wasn't a Blue Dog douche.
He's not exactly the kind of guy who inspires the blue-county Dems to go vote.

3. If he wasn't a blue dog douche he wouldn't have a snowball's
chance in hell of even being in the race.

4. Obama has always been unpopular in WVA even at the height of his popularity
in 2008 he lost the primary by what? 70-30 to Hillary and then it was one of McCain's best states. WVA has a lot of working class whites who seem to buy into the GOP message about minorities taking jobs away and government spending--even though WVA is one of the biggest states for getting federal assitance for its size. Obama was an issue, too, in the senate race last year, and Manchin pretty much ran against Obama, too. So if we lose WVA, it isn't like WVA was a big Obama state or even a blue state (those days are long gone). The Dems who seem to get elected there (besides Rockefeller) seem to be DINO's anyway.

5. Mostly they just hate alternative energy solutions, so they vote GOP.
