Former FBI Interrogator: Cheney Owes Obama An Apology

*After speaking at an event at the New America Foundation Tuesday, former FBI agent Ali Soufan weighed in on former Vice President Dick Cheney's call for President Barack Obama to apologize for its past criticism of Bush-era practices. Soufan thought it should be the other way around. "I think if Mr. Cheney wanted to apologize for not getting Osama bin Laden, for not getting the top leadership of al Qaeda, for the enhanced interrogation techniques that have caused more problems than anything else, the address is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue," he said.

6. Why does Cheney deserve a trial when Anwar al-Awlaki didn't?

10. Well, I think so, but I've accepted that that makes me a radical extremist, so I keep quiet about it
I'm just trying to figure out what other people's rules are - most of DU seems to think Anwar did NOT deserve a trial. And I just don't understand the logic that asserts him to be in a different category than Cheney, aside from race and ethnicity. Is the rule that we just murder brown terrorists?

13. Yeah
That whole "Constitution" thingie is just so pre-9/11, isn't it? But I still have a nostalgia for quaint old concepts like due process and the Bill of Rights. I'm sure there will be a camp or a school soon for the benefit of those of us having trouble adjusting to the World As It Now Is.
