Hank III: “The only person out there worthy of mixing political views and music is Jello Biafra.”
— Hank Williams III wondering why anyone bothered asking his dad, Hank Williams Jr., about politics. The older Williams’s Obama-Hitler comparison on Fox News got the country star’s song booted off ESPN. The younger musician told TMZ that he respects Biafra (the Dead Kennedy’s frontman-turned-Green Party activist), but he declined to talk politics himself.

1. I'm a big fan of rockabilly, and Hank 3 in particular.
He certainly puts the dick in dixie.

10. Yep, thats him. I stopped watching the Wild Whites halfway through. I like gritty cinema but the

part where they were doing drugs at the old grandma's birthday was just too much for me.

2. The Williams family's coolness is like male pattern baldness
it skips a generation.

3. Use your education, don't let your education use you
One of the great lessons I learned from the Dead Kennedys.

I would add Peter Garrett but I suppose Hank 3 is referring to the continental US.

11. Minnie Pearl (good friend of Hank1), reportedly said upon meeting 3,

"Lord, honey, you're a ghost," as she was astonished by his striking resemblance to his grandfather.<2>

13. Hank Jr looked fucked up when he was on Fox and Friends
...Not just his face. He slurred and got his words out of order. I think he was intoxicated.

19. He had all the warning signs... wearing sunglasses, irritibility, petulance, slurred speech, and

judging from the the way he was postured he was probably having difficulty sitting up.

Dopesick or drunk in the morning, probably both.

He's got more talent in his little finger than his daddy ever had in his whole worthless carcass. ;)

16. he also wouldn't mind if you download some of his music to sample.
he realizes it's the fans that matter, not the record companies. while enslaved to the label, for years Hank III relied on bootlegs to distribute his ASSJACK work which the label pretended didn't exist.

perhaps his fambase has given him some unique political insight. he realizes that it literally takes all types working together to be a success. if not for the traditional country fans that show up early to shows for his country set, his assjack performance alone would not sell enough tickets to keep touring.

18. +1
Bands like Rise Against are pretty much the only music I can think of that's both political and mainstream right now. (And awesome.)

23. Bad Religion talks a boat load of politics.
Greg Graffin has his Phd, is a college professor...and STILL finds time to tour.

Not sure if I'm going to see Hank III tomorrow night. Have a free pass to go (at a competing venue...but we're all friends in this industry). Love him...but I'm in the middle of a huge bathroom remodel...and while I'm a fan...the thought of going to hang out at "the cubicle" all night just kind of turns me off. I don't really like going to shows anymore. The only one's I attend are the one's I'm working.

But I've been saying for a long time that it's time III get's his due. Looks like his grandpa...sounds even closer. Talent skipped a generation in that family. Oh...Jr is talented. I don't like the guy...never have. But I can appreciate talent. But he's not on III's or Seniors level.
