Staff Leaves Bachmann Campaign

Rep. Michele Bachmann "is losing her pollster and senior adviser in a staff exodus that raises questions about the viability of her White House bid and her campaign finances," the AP reports.

"The moves signal an effort to preserve money three months ahead of the first Republican nominating contests."

3. I certainly hope that the exposure that she got
from her failed attempt here drives home to her district just what a whack job she is and puts an end to her Congressional Career.

7. Sadly, a lot of the people I know in her district...
think EXACTLY as she does, that liberals are traitors, Obama is a Muslim socialist, having single payer is the end of the world, and all that claptrap.

She is unfortunately doing a pretty good job representing her district.

4. There's an interesting thought.
I was just thinking about how much money is floating around the Republican campaigns, and how easy it would be for one candidate to hose another by simply hiring away that candidate's staff.

I'm not saying that it's the case here, but if it were, the culprit would likely be a no-chance second-tier candidate who is maneuvering for the VP slot--perhaps one who hasn't entered the race yet. Nobody on their side or ours takes Bachmann any more seriously than that.

The timing of the move might also be related to the move-up of the Florida primaries, which has accelerated the schedule by almost a month. If these folks pop up in a Palin or Christie campaign, then we can expect to see the tactic used again, but the next time the departures will be scheduled to cause maximum damage to the candidate losing the staff.

6. This caught my eye
It's in the full AP article cited by Politicalwire - the last paragraph

"Bachmann is midway through her third term in the House. She suspended her congressional campaign efforts when she announced for president but hasn't explicitly ruled out a re-election bid. She would have until next June to decide, although many party insiders are doubtful that Bachmann will try to reclaim her seat."

Interesting, no?
