They didn't WOW me enough
The markets reaction to Apple's announcement is exactly what is wrong with society today.

Apple made technological advances but the techies wanted the moon so they are chastising Apple for not delivering.

Apple Disappoints A Bit With New iPhone 4S

CUPERTINO, California (AP) — The most closely kept secret about the iPhone 5? There isn't one — yet.

The new iPhone is faster, has a better camera and allows you to sync content without needing a computer. It includes a futuristic, voice-activated service that responds to spoken commands and questions such as "Do I need an umbrella today?" It will now be available to Sprint customers as well as those from AT&T and Verizon Wireless.

But there's a catch. Apple named it 4S when most people were expecting the iPhone 5. Immediately, tech bloggers and Apple fans alike began to wonder if this new iPhone was not as cool as they had hoped. Investors were disappointed, too. Apple's stock fell more than 5 percent before getting a late bump.

If Tuesday's unveiling seemed like a letdown, it was because Apple didn't do a good job of managing expectations. That's a familiar problem for Apple, whose penchant for secrecy invites hyperbolic speculation between its product announcements. Given that it had been 16 months since the previous iPhone hit the market, imaginations had even more time to run wild this time.

"This is the typical Apple scenario: People keep wanting it to do the impossible," said Tim Bajarin, a Creative Strategies analyst who has been following the company for decades.

The same goes for the markets in general and also many voters expectations of a President.

5. The iPhone is just an example of the problem
Like Apple or not, it is ridiculous how the markets are responding to the news.

I don't do Apple simply because of the cost but I find the reaction a prime example of America's problems.

12. Yeah, Spoiled little snots.
Pouting & stamping their feet because they didn't get a shiny, new, bauble. And they had better be the first on their block with the newest one too.

3. Nonsense. Apple is emblematic of US society: the biggest company on earth spends little on R/D
And phones in a mediocre product. The result is that Apple now trails its competitors in technology.

I, like many people, am switching to Android when my iphone contract is up.

They didn't wow the markets enough is all you hear.

That is what symbolizes society today, I didn't get my pony.

9. The market is buying future profits. The Iphone 4S doesn't bode as well for these as the Iphone 5
would've. So the price of the stock goes down. This is as it should be.

10. I was trying to tie the reaction to Apple's announcement to
How America reacts to anything today. Nothing meets their expectations or so it seems.

6. Another doodad to dangle in front of people who need to be concerned
about food and shelter. Believe me, I know a few like this. Will line up to buy the latest trinket or electronic bit of crap and complain about living check to check.

Innovation is fine but there certainly has to be another way to make a company viable rather than tossing out new stuff every couple of months.

11. True but...
What I wanted to get across, and obviously failed to do, was the way people react these days about anything.

It's an "I didn't get what I wanted" society.

I think Apple products are way over hyped and way over priced, perfectly happy with my old flip phone and an HP touch pad that I only purchased because it was really cheep.

7. Personally I was waiting for a bigger screen.
This one is too damned small.

I was waiting for this but I think I may postpone until the real 5 comes along, even though my battery life sucks and I am out of contract.

So I'm not convinced that it's what's wrong with society today.
