It's so good to be back involved with a campaign....
Edited on Wed Oct-05-11 06:56 PM by WCGreen
It has been a few years since I actually got the chance to run a campaign of any real size.

It's only for Council at Large for a blue collar suburb here in the Cleveland, Ohio area. But it's heavy on the Union voters and goes blue in every election.

It's a kind of homecoming for me.

I was intricately involved with all the major campaigns that came through here from 1994 till 2000.

I was the treasurer of the county democratic party and so, being that we were democrats, I was the only person involved that knew anything about stats and how to get the computer to work in our favor.

I had a lot of fun developing voter targeting at the precinct level all the way to the whole county.

I designed all the sample ballots sent out by the party and also developed the voter base that we used.

It was great, I was in charge of the voter file and we kept winning and winning until there were only a few republican judges. There were over fifty officials elected county wide.

Remember, Cuyahoga County is the largest democratic enclave between New York City and Chicago.

But somewhere after the 2000 election, the political figures started to worry only about getting themselves reelected. It felt like Camelot with all the knights bickering over the own interests.

It's inevitable, I guess.

I have kept my toe in the water over the years and this is a good chance for me to bow out on top. I have talked my candidate into taking a run at the mayor in 2013 and he is seriously considering taking up the challenge. It's good sized city of over 15k and it is also one of the so-called inner ring suburbs.

I just got off the phone with the candidate and it was really cool to hear this question once again, "could you get a plan together, a budget and a statistical approach for a run for the mayor?"

I'm in. It's gonna be my last hurrah because I just don't suffer insufferable egos anymore.

Win or lose, and I think I can do the trick, we are in for the long haul.

First up, a name recognition poll come next september just to let the incumbent know we are there....

1. Good for you!
This sounds very worthwhile!

You're like the hunting dog who's been penned up far too long, while the opposition runs roughshod over your allies...

I think you'll prevail too, with your intelligence and prior experiences in the field...

Go get 'em, Chris!

2. Thanks for your involvement
I work as a field organizer in a state senate campaign right now and it's so hard to get people involved. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

3. I am disabled and so that was another reason I slowed down from
100mph to 0...

But this is going to be fun. This is a good one to go out on...
