Is a large police presence required at OWS?
Is it written somewhere that there has to be a police armada patrolling the protests?

1. of course not.
That won't stop the Powers that Be from putting the machinery of the Police State into motion, though.

3. I do believe they want hell to break loose. Not above provoking the angry response.

It will some how validate their tactics and corporate media can then label the protesters as violent radicals.

Bastards.

Edit for spelling.

4.  Remember...At the RNC Convention in Minneapolis....?
An Under-cover police officer was seen getting out of an un-marked city vehicle in a St. Paul park with a hammer and started breaking store-front windows.

Just after this.. the police closed in with tear gas and pepper spray and tasers.

9. I think they well might do that. We profess to have a democracy, but often it
all falls apart when TPTB are challenged. Or, some plant will do similar. They are just looking for an excuse to beat on the people protesting and show the world how they controlled the dirty hippies.

5. It's all about intimidation and showing the world TPTB are in charge and the
peasants are under control, and will be indoctrinated by the system.

8. Are all those hedge fund managers, etc. sitting
up in their offices getting...uhm...worried? IMHO I would say that is what is accounting for the large police presence.
