Bill Gates on Steve Jobs.......
"The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come. For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it's been an insanely great honor. I will miss Steve immensely."
— Bill Gates

7. My post has nothing to do with Steve's passing actually. Bill Gates and Steve Job's
were never best of friends. (well maybe in the early days) Again I ask, why is Bill Gates worth like 50 + Billion, and Steve Job's worth only 7+ Billion. Steve was the master of the group IMHO, but ended up with much less in value....

I have already stated (on a previous thread)

RIP Steve, and very happy that your pain is finally done.

3. Licensing Windows to hardware manufacturers instead of keeping it locked to Microsoft hardware

simple answer. That's why Gates is richer and why Windows is on 90% of computers worldwide.

4. No, really great minds don't want to know
some people don't measure a persons worth by the wealth they accumulate.

Takes all kinds.

11. I am glad that Bill is richer than Steve was, because ........
Bill has been used TONS and TONS of his money for humanitarian works, and Steve did not.

Maybe God knew who would use the money for those less fortunate and who would not ;)

17. I wasn't slamming anyone.
Someone asked a question and posted what I thought.
And nothing in what I said was untrue.

I believe that in life people are given 'gifts' and some people use those gifts to 'help' others.

16. Great post, and you are absolutely right.. Bill and Warren Buffet are the monarchs
to good faith. I still think that Steve Jobs is great for his brilliance with respect to Apple.

I called my dad tonight. We talked about how Apple started. Nothing happens in a vacuum. As a high school kid, I used to hang out at the Homebrew Computer club, and the Oasis bar where the group would go after meetings. I was younger, but into the computer thing. My dad was working at Beckman, where Bob Noyce and Shockley had an office next to his. It was where the beginning of the integrated circuit part of Silicon Valley was being born. My dad interviewed a man by the name of Lee Felsenstein. Even though he had some kind of criminal background, my dad saw something in him and hired him. He was the guy who started the Homebrew club where Wozniak and Jobs were getting together. What is interesting is that, according to my father, the computer concept was stalled because of a lack of storage. The day the floppy disc came out, Woz and Jobs split the club and weren't seen again.

There's a lot of interesting history. And lots of people in the side wings who contributed in different ways. I miss those days.
