Heartbreaking message sent to my sister who works in Gov. assistance
Edited on Wed Oct-05-11 10:38 PM by Quixote1818
This was her email sent to a number of us. I tried to remove any information that might give away who this was:

I get emails like this several times a week, but this one really breaks my heart and I just wanted to share it with you. It makes me feel so helpless!

My truck is barely able to run, it's 29 years old.
No Ins.
No gas.

2. Wasn't that confidential
I know you mean well by posting this, but it seems like an invasion of that person's privacy.

If not, you have no point.

4. With identifying info removed, there is no conceivable violation of privacy.
The person's privacy has been retained.

8. What I find especially sad
is that she has no family or friends to help.

I do volunteer work feeding the homeless in my city. A lot of them are hard core homeless, who have been on the street for some time and have good survival skills. But every so often someone shows up who is obviously recently homeless -- and you can tell by their appearance and behavior. Often it's women who are in their fifties (meaning a lot like me) and it breaks my heart to think that they have no one to turn to.

I don't want it to sound as if I don't care about the others, because I do. But when someone shows up who is a whole lot more like me, it just brings it home. \

One of the things I get to do in feeding the homeless is cook for them, and it's important to me that I fix things I might fix for my own family or friends. I've developed a dynamite tuna noodle casserole, and a chicken chile rice casserole that they just love. It gives me enormous pleasure to serve them food I've made and to see their appreciation.
