(get this from FOX:)

"During the day, unions and students joined the demonstrators. What was once a protest of powerful Wall Street financial firms and banks is growing into a larger movement about the working class, employment, poverty, education, and more.

Video of Baton Beatings- 1 Hour Ago. #OccupyWallStreet

by weathercoinsFollow

This will be a really short diary. Someone just sent me a video, taken from I believe a cell phone around 8:45 PM tonight. The video speaks for itself. I would have posted this in a comment but I think, with all the confusion of what is currently occurring, people need to see this.

UPDATED WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Blogging #OccupyUSA—Big NYC March Ends With More Arrests, Beatings

8:35 Some marchers still blocked. Some want to keep marching. Many gathered at park, dispersed. Reports of twenty or more arrests, pepper spraying, will take awhile to make sense of whole thing and if will go on for a few hours or end quickly.

8:30 Tim Robbins reportedly at march tonight. I recommend his great satire Bob Roberts as quite apt—mocking Wall Street and media.

7:55 And now it begins in NYC: barriers down, pepper spraying, arrests, paddy wagons. Wild live stream.

MYFOX NEW YORK STAFF REPORT

MYFOXNY.COM - While covering the Occupy Wall Street protests on Wednesday night, Fox 5 photographer Roy Isen was hit in the eyes by mace from a police officer and Fox 5 reporter Dick Brennan was hit by an officer's baton.

The protests on Wall Street continued to grow all day. The rallies and their participants are showing no signs of slowing down.

.........................

Officers, many wearing white shorts indicating supervisor rank, swatted protesters with batons and sprayed them with mace, video from the scene showed.

Fox 5's Isen and Brennan were there and witnessed the chaos. At one point, Brennan was hit in the abdomen by a police baton and Isen got irritant in his eyes. Both journalists were all right and continued to cover the protests and arrests.

4. If the beatings continue, I predict...
...the videos will keep surfacing. And the backlash grows. And the protest gets larger. Nurses joined today. Librarians tomorrow? Don't laugh. Every group sees itself part of this protest. It's on like Donkey Kong now.

The cops will keep up the beatdowns and arrests, and the numbers will keep growing. Hopefully, all the violence is from the cops, until they realize they should join us. And they will.

And then the march to the Hamptons. To the addresses of Lloyd Blankfein and Jamie Dimon...
