West end of Freedom Plaza
The crowd setting up tents, etc., in the center of Freedom Plaza
Expect a lot more of these
Unfortunately there is no escape from sanctimonious folk music at these things, but we all must make sacrifices
The view from Pershing Square, across 14th street
The waterfall and pool in Pershing Square, one of my favorite little-known places downtown. Currently still a nice quiet place you can go if the crowds get to be too much.
McPherson Square, a few blocks to the north; there's a smaller group here doing some sort of planning for something
Farragut Square, a few blocks to the northwest. Logistically, this would probably be a better place to have the protest (see the food trucks pic below) and symbolically it might even be better since it's actually on K street (even though most lobbyists have actually moved off K street, kind of like most investment banks have moved off Wall street). There seems to be some protest spillover here (particularly around the food trucks) but this is mostly just the normal weekday lunchtime crowd.
This is Farragut Square again, a few blocks northwest, where there are lots of food trucks during the day. Get the chess pie from the bright red truck on the far left.
