Calif. pot dispensaries told by feds to shut down
— Federal prosecutors have launched a crackdown on pot dispensaries in California, warning the stores that they must shut down in 45 days or face criminal charges and confiscation of their property even if they are operating legally under the state's 15-year-old medical marijuana law.

In an escalation of the ongoing conflict between the U.S. government and the nation's burgeoning medical marijuana industry, California's s four U.S. attorneys sent letters Wednesday and Thursday notifying at least 16 pot shops or their landlords that they are violating federal drug laws, even though medical marijuana is legal in California. The attorneys are scheduled to announce their coordinated crackdown at a Friday news conference.

1. Of course! Holder's desperate to deflect the attention from "F&F."
This should produce just the major shitstorm he wants, and which Barry apparently doesn't mind (despite promising in 2008 to leave the medical marijuana dispensaries alone). Is anyone out there still naive enough to think he's not just another political whore?

I wonder why they picked California? Perhaps because they figure California won't push back on this?

11. Yeah...I feel betrayed.
And I don't even smoke weed (or anything else)!

Of course, I have only myself to blame for expecting anything different. I'd have probably felt betrayed even if my preferred candidate (Hillary) had won.

7. Because they can make an example of them for the pot dispensaries
but still carry California in the general election.

I swear, they are TRYING to organize a third party and make the Democrats irrelevant.

12. Good point.
They could probably do that here in Oregon, too...but there's a lot greater chance of outright resistance, which would be a PR nightmare for them.

3. Lord knows we can't have anything akin to an affordable miracle plant
available to one and all, it would collapse the Health and Insurance and Pharma industries when people realized three puffs of pot was as good as the dangerous anti-depressants, or cheaper than expensive glaucoma drops, or a really sensible way to treat anorexia, and insomnia, just to name a few.

And Obama can't afford to those on Wall Street pissed off at him because their big winners become losers.

6. Dispensaries to Obama: Honor your 2009 promises.

Stop wasting funds (I actually support zero $$ for prosecuting dispensaries) on unnecessary prosecutions of dispensaries designed to HELP people.

I would begin prosecution (I support 100% total funding) of every single REAL Republican criminals who have gotten away with everything, from A-Z. They do NOTHING to help people, actually are selfish criminals that have been BEGGING prosecution for years. Even Cheney has openly admitted to his crimes.

Start with Dick Cheney and George W. Bush.

8. Holder...even worse than Gonzo!
I would not have believed it possible. One would probably have to go back to the Nixon days to find worse. Maybe.

13. While I support full legalization....
"The San Diego medical marijuana outlets put on notice were the same 12 that city officials sued last month for operating illegally, after activists there threatened to force an election on a zoning plan adopted to regulate the city's fast-growing medical marijuana industry, City Attorney Jan Goldsmith said. A judge on Wednesday ordered nine of the targeted shops to close, while the other three shut down voluntarily, Goldsmith said."

This seems to indicate that the shops being closed down (at least some of them) were operating illegally. Overall, I support the legalization, because at least medically it does help my eldest son with his ADHD and Bipolarism.
