7. lowering the US flag for the death of the head of a corporation
is pretty over the top to me. while it is not in violation of the Flag Code...it gives him significance that goes beyond who he was.

Incredibly useful devices that changed forever the way we interact with media. Some have called him a modern day da Vinci.

But nobody's putting a gun to your head to make you buy one.

he had some cool ideas...made pretty stuff...heck, he didn't really MAKE anything...he took ideas and expanded on them.

not the first portable digital music player though the ipod was marketed as such
not the first smart phone though the iphone was marketed as such
not the first tablet computer though the ipad was marketed as MAGICAL

he was a man...his vision was making money...and he was damned good at it.

25. There were portable music players
LIke the Walkman ... and even portable mp3 players. But nobody wanted them, so they're pretty much gone now.

Smart phones? How many of those things were being sold? There were Blackberries for getting your email ... what else?

Tablets? You'll have to show me one that predates the iPad.

Jobs built Apple into a major company by making high quality, easy-to-use devices THAT PEOPLE WANTED TO BUY. That's what changed the landscape of the digital world.

i had an HP tablet in 2001.

there was even a company that made a Modbook from a MacBook and displayed it some years before the ipad.

They just weren't worth a shit. I had one, a Rio. It sucked so bad I gave up on it.

31. funny...i had a Rio that worked well...hell, probably still does
but is too big and only has 64MB RAM... my MP3 of choice right now is a Zen Stone...small, simple and much less expensive than an iPod. Apple makes cool stuff, but once again, they weren't the first...they did what any company that wants to succeed does : they improved on what was there.

32. The Rio "worked," sort of.
I think I could store all of maybe 50 songs on it. Putting them on there was a pain, and it had no screen to tell me what song I was about to play.

I hated it. Wanted an iPod for years, never got one. Now I have an iPhone that does the job.

19. wrong
No. According to the Flag Code, only the president of the US or your state governor can order the US flag lowered to half-staff. You can half-staff your company flag, which has the advantage of informing passersby and uninformed employees, clients, etc., that someone important to your company has died.

that's fine. but they chose to fly it in front of their building...they should fly it with proper respect and in accordance with the rules set forth in displaying it. they are free not to fly it...as are you.
