I am watching the Grenada TV Documentary on the Spanish Civil War
The parallels between the Spanish Republic of the Early 30s and America today are scary.

- Nation divided strongly between Conservative and Liberal coalitions

- Wealthy 2% owning 98% of all the wealth

- Public unsatisfied with progress of elected officials

- Strong Conservative Coalition control of country, followed by Liberal Coalition control (and a resulting inaction on the part of the Liberals)

- Promised progress far exceeding resulting progress...

And so on and so on...

2. Unfortunately, that didn't turn out so well
It led to the right-wing dictatorship of Francisco Franco from 1936 to his death in 1975.

4. You're absolutely right. And that's why I'm worried
We have a history of fascism (The Wilson Administration was fascist) and a love of strong leaders.

The only reason we don't have a Franco to rule us like a King is because the GOP can't get their shit together.
