1. Looks like a fantastic turnout.
I used to live in Portland. Loved the people. Hated the rain.

3. Those are both really conservative media. The Merc's liveblogging is much better, I think...

Updated about every 10 minutes, with some great pics.

And for a truly left-wing page, updated regularly, Portland Indymedia

4. Update 4:28 p.m.:
From Trimet: Green and Yellow Line MAX trains are resuming service in downtown Portland. Riders should expect delays throughout the system.

From The Oregonian's Alison Barnwell: "Can I get a shoutout for Portland Police? They are us! Their pensions are getting taken by Wall Street," sings Mike Smith into his bullhorn as Occupy Portland heads north on Second Avenue toward Main Street.

6. Wish my damn back would let me be there today. I wonder if it's going to...
sustain? Protests in PDX have a habit of shriveling as soon as it gets dark and damp. But if even a few thousand stick it out overnight? It might have legs.

15. 5:20 update: In a VERY surprising move, police have announced they will not enforce park curfew...
laws in the two occupied parks. They've never done that before. There ARE power in numbers, and just maybe some police are starting to realize that the people are not the enemy. (hey, a girl can dream)

16. 538pm update: From The Oregonian's Eliot Njus: Speakers say they'll have
to give up Chapman Square at 9 a.m. tomorrow for the Portland Marathon. After, they'll reoccupy. #occupyportland

From The Oregonian's Owen Smith: A speaker announced that he had just talked to the mayor and his aides and they told him the group must dissipate by 9 a.m. Friday for the setup of the Portland Marathon. The others in the crowd were shouting: "Civil disobedience."
