Orange County Register: "Man accused of spitting on Hispanic woman"

According to the District Attorney's Office, the woman, 36, whose name was not released, was driving to a chocolate shop in Huntington Beach with her sister at around 1:40 p.m. Monday when Schmidt rode up to the car, which was stopped at a stop sign near Main Street.

Schmidt is accused of pulling up to the open driver's side window of the car and, without provocation, yelling racial slurs and profanity at the woman. He is accused of then spitting in the driver's face through the open window.

The victim, identified only as Jane Doe, drove away but stopped a short distance later near the chocolate shop, the release said. She and her sister got out of the car.

Schmidt is accused of again riding up to Jane Doe and yelling more racial slurs and profanity before spitting on her back.

Prosecutors say Schmidt then rode away but, moments later, returned. He then rode his bicycle directly at the victims, forcing Jane Doe to jump out of the way to avoid being hit, the release said.
