At Country Music Hall of Fame during HW, Jr debacle...

Recently in Nashville on business and stopped by the Country Music HOF & Museum. Watched a video segment on the influence of country music in television. Toward the end a clip of HW,Jr and his MNF song/video came on. Someone in the crowd said "not for long" and several muted laughs were heard. Behind me an older man commented that "at least he said what he wanted to". Couldn't help myself by simply replying "so did the Dixie Chicks". Needless to say he had nothing to say after that.

I'm simply baffled by the continued hipocrasy of the right "we love our country more than anyone else" folks. I can't believe the lack of public outrage as we saw over the Dixie Chicks statement that they were ashamed President Bush was from their home state. That statement garnered public gatherings of CD smashing/burning, radio stations banning their music, death threats and so much more. I am very pleased that ESPN took the action they did but would love to see similar reactions from the same folks who demanded the take-down of the Dixie Chicks and the country music industry. I also realize that will never happen.

Thought about all of the interesting history I saw while touring the museum and sadly noted I couldn't remember seeing one mention of the Dixie Chicks. There was however a special tribute the the Williams Family legacy with a whole corner of the floor devoted to HW, Jr. Unbelievable.

4. Music Biz in Nashville is very political. Most folks behind the scenes are progressive.

It is a University city and there are progressive thinkers here. The problem is with the old money that tends to finance some of the acts that come out of Nastyville, Tennisshoe. These benefactors are usually conservative. Hank Jr. is just a lucky ignorant redneck that was born to a famous person.

The Dixie Chicks were pulled off the air for making a less offensive comment. Quite hypocritical.
