KORUS: The Final Nail in America's Coffin

If an enemy was seeking to hire someone to destroy America he might have hired the political leaders who created the job killing North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the pending disastrous Korean-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (KORUS FTA).

When NAFTA was enacted in 1994 it set out to reduce trade barriers and promote "free trade" between Mexico, Canada and the United States (which turned out to be a disaster for Canada and the U.S.). Ross Perot's prediction that NAFTA would result in "a giant sucking sound" as American jobs moved across the border to Mexico was quickly realized. Now the pending Korean-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, or KORUS FTA, will be even more damaging if approved as it will not only further deplete our manufacturing base, it will also take international trade, banking and finance out of our control. On Monday President Barack Obama sent KORUS to Congress, with the ratification process set to take place next week! Now is the time to contact your representative to ensure this disastrous FTA is not approved!

Most of our legislators are not even aware of what is in this agreement - it is hundreds of pages long! Write your representatives or visit their offices with your friends, relatives and this article, and demand that they not let the Korean Free Trade Agreement pass.

In the first 10 months of 2010, South Korean auto exports to America totaled $7.41 billion. U.S. auto exports to Korea, on the other hand, totaled just $536 million in the same period - just 7 percent. That is a difference of over $6.8 billion. How would we run anything but a trade deficit with those numbers?

2. We don't need any more Korean stuff here in the U.S.
Fact is, if anything, we should be pulling their fucking strings, not the other way around. Same with China, too.

4. It'll be like this until American wages = the ROWs
We're going to go down faster than they are going to go up.

But, by the time my unborn great grandson is in High School, we could be looking at parity of total production and shipping costs. Which would once again encourage domestic manufacturing. If you can wait for that, everything's gonna be jes fine.

5. South Korea has got to be hurting just a bit
The last TV I bought in a store had a Korean brand and "Made in China" on the box. They're losing manufacturing jobs, too.
