Amazing story of the clever cat who led RSPCA rescuer to her kittens
A clever cat who was thrown from a car stunned an RSPCA inspector by leading him to her litter of four tiny kittens hidden in a barn.

RSPCA inspector Jon Knight had been called out to rescue the young cat, after she was spotted being thrown from a car in the town of March, Cambridgeshire, last month.

The concerned caller had been monitoring the cat and started feeding her, and after two weeks managed to confine the cat in a green house in Upwell Road, March and the RSPCA was called.

The cat was taken to an RSPCA vet for treatment; she was quite thin and had a grazed face as a result from being thrown from the car, she was also treated for fleas and worms and given a good feed.

3. Aww. What adorable kitties.
That is one clever mama cat. Hope they find the asswipe that tossed that poor cat out of the car. Things like that don't go over well in Blighty.

5. Cats are smart

I use to not like cats all that much, but after one took a shine to me, I have a new application for kitty cats.

7. "and after two weeks managed to confine the cat "
If you had the reading comprehension of most of us you'd realize she was free for the two weeks AFTER she was thrown from the car and was probably feeding the baby kittehs...........

10. I assume once she was thrown from the car she wasn't with the kittens
I'm not sure how you conclude she was still with them.

15. My understanding- from this poorly written story- is that the pregnant cat was thrown from a car,
spotted & fed by someone for two weeks during which the kittens were born and fed by mama cat.

Then this kind person managed to trap mama cat but not the kittens.

18. That's how I read it
The kittens were tiny enough to have closed eyes. Their eyes open anywhere from five to eight days after birth.

Mumcat was just kept long enough to be checked over and fed and then taken back to the location to be with her kittens.

9. Then re-read the story. It says she wasn't captured for two weeks
then when finally captured and taken to SPCA for treatment, they realized she'd had kittens and they took her back to the place she was captured, where she led them to her kittens.

12. I assume she was thrown from the car far from where the kittens were
and wasn't in contact with them. It seems odd that this woman would try to catch her if she was in a barn taking care of her kittens.

34. Let me see if shouting helps

The cat was pregnant when thrown from the car.
Someone saw this and told the RSPCA.
The RSPCA were looking for the cat.
During the time they were looking someone started feeding her.
Cats have a big range, so when she had the kittens it could have been anywhere.
The feeding person caught the mother cat 2 weeks after they started feeding her, this was close to the time of birth.
The RSPCA took the mother, gave her a meal, some shots, flea and worming treatment.
The RSPCA then returned the mother to the wild, probably intending to catch her again and with her the kittens.

Ten years here, and people still jump on stories and pick them the fuck apart because they can. Just going with it isn't an option any more. And people wonder why I have a gigantic ignore list.

23. LOL! you would leave because I found this story a little unbelievable?
Hey, I love a good cat story any day, and recently lost my 17 year old tuxedo kitty, who certainly bossed me around and got me to do things and go where she wanted. I just think this isn't what it looks like or, perhaps the woman wasn't feeding her for an entire 2 weeks. Kittens eyes open at about 10 days.

I'm not buying it either, this story is clearly a media plant designed to distract us all from the reality of the hopelessness our own pitiful lives.

13. My own cat does the "follow me" routine
He looks over his shoulder and meows until I start following him. Usually he's upset because there's a kibble floating in his water dish or one of his toys is under the couch.

But then, I don't think he's faced a crisis like this.

But those kittens are adorable. :loveya:

35. My little girl like to follow me. You really have to watch your step for
fear of stepping on her. She was the down the road neighbors cat who showed up here about two years ago and never left. She didn't care about living with a rescue dog they brought home one day.

If the water bowl or food bowl is empty I hear about it and yes, the do lead me. I get the same treatment when they bring me a "gift."

17. Oooh, all tuxedo kittties
I have a feeling they won't lack for homes, especially Jolie.

My cat has occasionally meowed at me and obviously meant me to follow her someplace, usually to an item which has tipped over (probably with her help). She's not happy until it's put right.

22. I'm not sure I can express how much I'd like to get my hands on
someone who would do that to such a beautiful young mother. I've had cats in my house pretty much all my life and they have been some very good companions. Even those that had attitude or anger management problems, I could never imagine treating them like that.
I'm afraid I would be sorely tempted to offer them the same treatment.

28. My city Grandmother and country Aunt both had outdoor kitties present babies they could not feed
Both of course let momma tend the babies while they were being bottle fed and then the kittens were vaccinated and placed. Then the mammas was spayed became an indoor cat as both human mommas respected these furry ones for overcoming their fear for the sake of their babies. Different sides of my family. I grew up with wonderful people.

31. "Follow me" is a pretty often-used cat command.
Mine will trot down the stairs first thing in the morning, looking over their shoulders at me and squawking to be sure I'm following them into the kitchen.

I think the cat in this story understood that people would follow her if she told them to.

But don't ask me what I think should be done to the bastard who tossed her out of the car.

33. Mine did it a couple of days ago when her food bowl was empty. It had been for a day or so.
She was absolutely adamant that I was going to follow her and she led me to her food bowl. I was shocked but then I realized that I with all the chaos in the household for a few days I had forgotten to refill her bowl. She eats dry food and I don't need to fill the bowl every day, but eventually it runs out.

Smart cats!

37. Wow, that looks just like the mama cat I trapped last weekend.
Small with short black hair and green eyes. She has 4 kittens, too. Three tabbies and a black one with a white nose -- all under 2 lbs. (a rescue worker came and weighed them). They were living under the outdoor sauna behind the neighbor's house and I was going nuts for a couple days thinking there was a cat trapped in there because of all the desperate crying. Didn't know there were kittens until I saw them playing on a woodpile next to it with their mom. I had NEVER seen her over there before.

She'd been hanging around all summer and eating food I'd been putting out. Lounging on the back porch every day. Now they have their own room next to mine and boy can those little critters make a racket. Woke me up early the other morning. :)
