2. I have a strong feeling my right wing, tax cut loving capitalist dad
would be supporting this one. He was starting to wake up and his last vote was for Kerry.

There are a lot of older folks out there and they're not all veterans of the 60s civil rights and peace movements.

46. What right-wing boomers don't understand (also the republicans the right ignores)...
Is that this is the same fight their parents fought. I have been learning about FDR recently and spent a lot of time at the WW2 museum in New Orleans while I was sent there for the oil spill. Equal opportunity through equal access to healthcare, jobs, and education is fundamental to democracy and that is what the WW2 generation fought for.
The presidents the republicans choose to remember and choose to ignore is very telling. I notice they tout Lincoln so they can appear "tough" (he won a war) and pretend they are for civil rights. They tout Teddy Roosevelt so they can pretend they care about the environment (and of course Teddy was "tough"). But notice how they ignore Eisenhower. They don't want to face his "cross of iron" speech. I read the whole thing recently and it is a beautiful work.

54. That's because Ike was fairly anti-conservative in his ways.
Edited on Sat Oct-08-11 01:38 PM by Chan790
If he was alive today, he'd be a Democrat. The Birchers hated him, accused him while in office of being a Soviet sympathizer.

They loved Coolidge too until some of them started reading and realized he was an isolationist pacifist who wanted to cut the military down to a homeland defense role.

42. Bad for the City
Dirty, bad-smelling hippies are unfocused, unpatriotic and bad for the people of the city. They start fights with cops and have nothing to complain about. They feel sorry for themselves, contribute nothing and won't get a job. They give New York a bad name.

Gosh! Will all that going against them, the protests will never catch on. Nobody wants to hear from bad-smelling people who are unfocused, unpatriotic and bad for the city. Good thing this will dry up before it hits the evening news.

Antisemitic, Communist pedophiles who cheat on their taxes. Scum of the earth! Crooks, anarchists and loafers. Dilettante, irresponsible ne'er-do-wells. Losers. Impudent snobs.

And that's on a good day.

45. For face book users go to the link below and rag on Erin Burnett. One of CNN's paid shills for
Goldman Sachs My comment on her photo: Another Paid shill for the Crooks on Wall Street where she came from read her bio. She told a protestor at Occupy Wall Street that the banks paid back the money they got from the Fed in the bailout she neglected to mention the profit they made by taking the bailout money that the Federal Reserve printed, some 3 trillion dollars, at an unheard of interest rate of 0.0078 percent, they then turned around and re-loaned back to the U.S government at a much higher rate making huge profits, this after the big gamble of the synthetic fractional securities catastrophe. The banking mafia had no intentions at all of helping regular Americans. Instead, they chose another “Three Card Monte” circus act to make big profits.

From the comments section

Francine Lindberg :Erin Burnett's fact check of Occupy Wall Street needs fact checking. The blatant bias Burnett brings to CNN should be challenged by giving equal time to someone who has actually studied the facts. Joseph Steiglitz comes to mind, or any one of the millions of US taxpayers and homeowners on the receiving end of the corporate shaft Burnett and her ilk like to straddle.

I was disappointed with the report of Erin's interview with a protester on Wall Street. Most of us who follow business know that TARP money was paid back, and I'm sure that many of the people at the protest also know it. The fact that the one person she talked to didn't know certainly doesn't negate the cause that these people are protesting for. Most financial companies were in a hurry to pay the money back so the federal govt would not be able to stop them from going right back to their old ways of giving million dollar plus bonuses to their executives. I have been of fan of Erin Burnett since she first arrived at CNBC, and hope in the future she will delve a little deeper when covering a story such as Occupy Wall Street. And Mike Kosec, it appears you are the one who doesn't have a clue, or anything of value to contribute, for that matter.

erin Burnett is not out front. She is looking down with scorn on those that would hope to send a message that those that brought our country to financial ruin should be held accountable. So what if they paid back loans with interest, that's how things work they didn't do it out of kindness. they need to be accountable and not set loose to wreak havoc on our economy again and again. Erin you are not out front you got it wrong. Hal B
