On OWS, please share a couple of specific votes Congress could take to show YEA or NEY for OWS goals
Thanks to all who are walking the talk as a citizen activists! I share the calls for change as articulated in so many ways through the OWS movements across the country. I do have a question that DUers could can help clarify.

There is so much being called for in the streets and some of the changes so sweeping, it's hard for people to wrap their minds about first steps to actually affect change politically that WE CAN SEE everyday.

I'm trying to boil down the goals of the OWS movement into a few very specific action items that we can challenge our elected leaders (particularly Congress) to address. The most succinct way I have seen to express what the OWS is all about is: "Need, Not Greed" and/or "Create Jobs - Tax Wallstreet"

QUESTION: Can you provide a couple of very specific "calls to action" that will enable Congress to either vote YEA or NEY? Their answer will provide a measurable example of what they are doing (or not) to address the inequality between the 1% and the 99%? The American Jobs Act?

Thanks! :hi:

2. Public financing of elections.
Of course, private money in elections is a huge cash cow for politicians, corporate media, lobbyists, and corporations expecting payback. So, it ain't gonna happen. But this could be the single, simplest thing to create change.

3. Thanks Rev for this specific action!
Yea --- too many politicians are in the pockets of corporations, but I appreciate your point. This would be a great vote if We The People could make it happen.

8. Stop blocking the production of generic medications; ppl w/out health ins can't afford name brands.
Legislation is designed to fatten the pocketbooks of pharmaceutical corps... pass patent laws that significantly shorten the 20 years of patent protection.

11. Roeseanne Barr has a suggestion
http://www.mediaite.com/tv/roseanne-barr-rich-should-be-beheaded-if-they-don%E2%80%99t-give-up-wealth/

“I first would allow the guilty bankers to pay… back anything over 100 million in personal wealth because I believe in a maximum wage of 100 million dollars and if they’re unable to live on that amount then they should go to the reeducation camps, and if that doesn’t help, then be beheaded.”

i love Roseanne!
