Can you think of a better way to express contempt for women ...
...than to say you "can't afford" to prosecute domestic abuse cases nor incarcerate those currently serving time for such crimes?

Me either.

1. I can't either.
But they do have the resources to go after the marijuana users.

I am so disgusted, I can hardly express it.

2. This is a power struggle between city and county government
and I have a strong suspicion that city government is going to find itself out of a job in 2012.

This has been all over the boards I frequent, nursing to knitting. It's just one more outrage contributing to the sense that this country no longer works for any of us.

3. That's a bit sexist - men are victims too - its not just women
(former male advocate for a domestic violence shelter here, the stigma male victims have to deal with is huge, and unfortunately often ignored). Decriminalizing domestic violence is beyond comprehension, regardless of the sex of the victims.

6. Do you really think those lawmakers are considering male victims?
Nope, they don't consider women human beings, and they probably beat the ones in their lives, so that's why they are trying to decriminalize their own actions.

5. But I'm sure they can afford to prosecute medical marijuana users. Crimes with victims?
Forget it if those victims don't have a penis. Victim-less "crimes" that piss off Big Pharma? We're on it!

7. Mysogny is much more prevalent than many women think - especially
younger women.

I can tell within a minute or so if I'm talking to a man who likes women or hates them.

It was particularly noticeable in the workplace where men often disrespect women by running roughshod over their opinions, interrupting them when they speak or constantly belittling or disagreeing with whatever they say.

8. Women are Complex!
I have never been able to understand them. I guess that this is the way it should be. I have the uppermost admiration for them, it is just that I just haven't been able to interpret what they are thinking.

Edited on Sat Oct-08-11 02:16 PM by madrchsod
now db cases can not be dropped. to fund db programs the counties add a certain amount to each fine. the state penal system also adds penalties and restrictions for those with a db conviction on their record.

12. Righ wing attitudes
It seems so bizarre that so many rightwingers scream about the dangers of Sharia being forced on the American people, when in fact many rightwingers hold beliefs about women that they believe enshrined in Sharia law. In fact they would feel right at home in a society where laws are based on religion, just the source of the law would be the Bible, not the Koran.

I don't understand why any woman belongs to a patriarchal religious group. it's like self-hatred to support such groups.

Yup, let a few abused women take revenge and see how fast the domestic abuse laws are re-instated.

24. Women comprise 85% of domestic abuse victims
"let a few abused women take revenge and see how fast the domestic abuse laws are re-instated."<---thats right! Turn the stats around and see how fast legislators take notice....

Women accounted for 85% of the victims of intimate partner violence, men for approximately 15%.
