Proposed Sex Offender Village Scrapped

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. -- After outrage and pushback from Lake County leaders, Barbara Farris, said she no longer is considering Sorrento as a location to house clusters of sex offenders.

Farris, of Tampa, has a company called Sex Offender Solutions, which helps sex offenders find housing and jobs.

She said she's been an advocate for children for years. She said as a victim herself, she wants to help protect children and believes clustering sex offenders together and monitoring them is the best way to do that.

Farris said she was considering Sorrento because it was rural. Farris said she was going to use two farms in Sorrento, but both owners backed out after the outcry.

1. Idea is fraught with problems to numerous to mention

Just one that comes to mind: say an angry lynch mob wants to exact vengence on the sex offenders, then they know where they all live. Makes their work much more effecient.

3. I Feel No Pity For Offenders...

.....You harm a child sexually, you go to jail for a long time,if your a teen offender you get charged as an adult.

Sadly my daughter hooked up with a 3 time offender as a teen who never served a day in jail and had his probation and $500 fine suspended as long as he would behave himself for 6 months until he turned 18 YO. Well since then in the past 5 years he has failed to keep up with is national offenders register obligation and has had warrants issued on each offense which is a Class C felony punishable by 5 years and or $5000...each time the judge has given him probation and a $500 fine and then suspending it each time,basically letting him off and he walks out of court laughing. He doesn't have a job and doesnt plan on or probably could not get one...he is a bum.

Sadder is that he and my daughter have had a little girl who is 2 now and you wouldn't be surprised what myself and grandma think when we know the two of them are together alone...do you blame us???


I want the laws that are on the books enforced...offend a child you loose

4. problem is

there's all sorts of people who get the "sex offender" label who aren't dangerous at all

like the guy caught pissing in an alley by a cop, he had his dick out so boom! he's a sex offender

and the 18-year-old kid with his 17-year-old girlfriend in a too-strict state with no Romeo law, he's a sex offender too

they should have stuck with keeping it to rapists and molesters

5. My Daughters BF

......raped and molested an 8 year old neighbor girl...the fact he continues to keep up on his registry obligations says to me he is hi risk.

After 3 warrants he should be locked away for the full sentence of 5 years.
