I would like to see a change to way Congress votes
Our representative government is clearly not working. It has been co-opted by the elite and it no longer represents the majority of us. This is a danger to not only the people of this country but the people of this increasingly interconnected world. We are now ruled through tyranny and manipulation by the nameless, faceless wealthy through their surrogates in Congress. The current system is no longer sustainable and needs to be changed.

The founding fathers of this nation had the foresight to establish a form of democratic government that would allow us, the people, to rule ourselves. The current state of democracy in this country is so perverted from the original vision that it is scarcely recognizable.

With the dawn of the information age, we now have the technological capacity to completely modify our representative form of government so that it finally represents the will of the people. We should be able to electronically vote on all bills that our Representatives have before them. And they should be allowed to only cast their vote as the majority will of the people in their district dictate. That would bring about true democracy and finally give all of us a say in the direction this country takes.

The job of Congress should be to make laws and fulfill the will of their constituents, not their corporate overlords. The Senate should take the collective will of the people in their state under consideration but still be allowed to vote their conscience.

True leadership does not come down from the top. It percolates up. We should be telling Congress what to do, not the other way around.

1. modern government
One of the problems with the type of system that you describe is the corporations would find ways to subvert the system. And unfortunately many in the electorate are ignorant and vote their emotions rather than thinking of the issues rationally. Great majorities of the population seem to favor raising taxes on the wealthy and limiting corporate power. However, voters seem ready to vote into power the people who are responsible for many of the problems and who advocate lower taxes on the wealthy and cutting regulations that area aimed at preventing what happened under the Bush administratio. Both Romney and Perry poll very high against Obama.

2. I've seen too many interests...
...buy too many referenda to see the process multiplied by a thousand times, and go national.

3. It's easier to buy off a few Congressmen than millions of voters
We can't all be bought off. Eventually the special interests run out of money.
